I've used nipple clamps for the past few years and was curious what part of the nipple people use. I have tended to use the middle and as far as back as possible as it feels much more secure and won't pop off, which tends to make me swear a tiny tiny bit if that happens... I have tried them on the tip of the nipple but oh my goodness that is way too painful. I've noticed the middle of the nipples feels more solid then the sides and just want to check that I am ok placing the clamps there and I'm not crushing anything important... Thanks Ps is this the right part of the forum for this question?

It actually depends on what clamp you use, as there are a crapload of different designs out there

well, clover clamps are designed to grip tighter the more the chain is pulled. So that means to be secure you need two things, more "stuff" between the teeth, and weight on the chain. You get a balance between those two, and you get a secure bite.

They make adjustable ones that will stay on without crushing anything if that is your worry.
