I started this after browsing the extended sensory deprivation thread. I didn't want to hijack it. Does anyone remember a short story of a guy who was worried about the feckless son taking control of the company he worked for? Guy A was worried Feckless was going to take over and run the company into the ground. He kidnaps Feckless and mummifies him in silk with earplugs and leaves him for three days. He hopes Feckless goes insane and can't take over the company. Guy A ends up running the company when it is discovered that Feckless had some sort of conversion and goes off on a pilgrimage. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

No, this was an actual story I've read. There are some similarities, though!
