I have noticed that. It's not always the case, but it happens frustratingly often. It's even more frustrating when they lose interest in you and you suddenly gain interest in them. It goes hand-in-hand with people being attracted to you when/because you're attached, especially if it's someone you would definitely consider were you single.

I have noticed...............when I am very attracted to some one....................and I Try very hard for them to like me..................its ONLY when i STOP trying so hard............and give up on them........that they FINALLY come around and start liking me....................BUT the BAD thing is...........by then..............I have TRIED sooooo hard.........................that i finnally give up and move on......................WHY IS THAT??? :(

I used to have a serious case of "Try to Impress", and only when I let that down did the men I wanted want me back. I analyzed it a little, and I think it's simply because I was trying too hard. Don't try to impress. Give them a, "This is me. Take it or leave it, and if you leave it it's your loss," attitude and they'll come running. So I guess just be yourself (not that you're not being yourself. You're just being, well... more of yourself than you really are in those kind of scenarios). That's what ultimately helped me.

This OP reminds me of the toast my g/f's and I used to do back in college: "Here's to the men that we love Here's to the men that love us But the men that we love aren't the ones who love us So fuck'em and here's to us!" It's more effective when you're drunk and trying to say it real fast.

People who have choices in potential mates don't want those that are too easy. They want challenges, whether or not they are even consciously aware of it. Those who have choices in potential mates can also smell desperation a mile away.
