Go to your local large drugstore and buy safety candles. These will be small pillars made of pure paraffin with no scent or dye. Alternatively, at the same place look for the Catholic candles. They will be in tall glasses with religious scenes on the glass. The candle inside is made of pure paraffin with no scent or dyes. Why do I recommend that? It's the scent and the dye that makes a candle burn hotter, and if the candle wasn't made well, will cause it to have hot spots. Not good for someone new to wax play. The above are inexpensive choices to use while you hone your skills, though I admit I *always* have a couple safety candles in my toy kit.
