Arturas -> Al Sharpton is my hero (7/11/2013 9:47:01 PM)

Sweet. The most Rev. Al Sharpton ("Big Al" to all his friends, me included) is my hero. Last year he few down to Sanford Fla to calm down the good Christians there marching for Travon against the peanut butter and cracker Sanford police department who failed to do justice by not locking up George immediately and screw the law, just lock his ass up...well see for yourself.

quote:

An hour into the Sanford rally last year for Trayvon Martin, the Rev. Al Sharpton fired up the crowd, the Orlando Sentinel writes.

"Trayvon represents a reckless disregard for our lives. Enough is enough. [George] Zimmerman should have been arrested that night. You cannot defend yourself against a pack of Skittles and iced tea."

"Don't talk to us like we're stupid! We love our children like you love yours," Sharpton said. "Lock him up!"

Was "us" referring to Americans? Was "you" referring to Martians or the French? If not, I'm confused: was it not George Zimmerman who was supposed to be racist?

Say it ain't so Big Al!

I often find that those who proclaim (or attempt) to speak for black Americans can sound the most racist.

Al Sharpton isn't always on the wrong side of an issue but those rare times that he finds himself on the right side of an issue, it usually is for the right reason but it's akin to a blind squirrel, finding an acorn.

There's no acorn here. Fat Albert is just being himself. He can't help it.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

I don't agree with you on many things, and I never did give a fat fig about Sharpton ...

But that was well spoken, I must say.

Remember Tawana Brawley......

Edwynn -> RE: Al Sharpton is my hero (7/12/2013 12:01:38 PM)

Remember Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rumsfeldt.

How cruelly they were treated. Just because they caused over 100,000 civilian deaths.

In any case, it's good to know that Bush II's association with that crowd was further away than Sharpton was from his crowd.

I feel better now.

OK, is this the part where I'm supposed to love my country and support our troops, and all that?

I'm up for it. Just tell me who to smite, that's all I'm asking.

Brilliantly avoiding anything to do with the thread

Perhaps Al Sharpton isn't his hero.

I would appreciate it if you would stop berating Mr. Sharpton...He and I have a common relative on my Thurmond side and are distant cousins. That aside you know that the thoughts expressed by Mr. Sharpton will be in the minds of many Americans even if he did not express them. Even if wrong they should be brought into the open for consideration and rejected or affirmed if appropriate. Hiding feelings never served individuals or our country well.

FR

He said this last year? What's accomplished by bringing it up now?

If I were in your shoes, I would distance myself from that particular relative. Like the vast majority, all I have ever seen Al Sharpton act on is his own personal aggrandizement. Bear in mind, this comes from a guy who is distantly but directly related to Edward Teach

I've been told we are a lot alike... so sense fighting it...[:D]

Actually if he gets a race riot started that'll be good.
