My apologies.

I figured that if the mods didn't want me to write in a 6 year old thread, it would have been locked.  Most forum software has the ability to lock dead threads.

They don't lock the threads here unless there is a specific issue.  This allows the originator of the thread to update how things turned out or the way they worked out the issue that brought their question to the forum.

i agree i got bashed when i was new making comments on dead/old threads, then remove them is the way i see it. They can pull off a tossable post, then they can lockdown old ones after a certain period IMHO. It's a social rule that alot dont know until they make this horrible offense, but it is new to the person reading it or new member,to comment simply keeps it going over the last word thing ~ jewels

P.s. i own a group on another vanilla site and i manage it by deleting old threads after a period of dead time, unless i chose to ressurect a topic of value.....i enjoyed reading this one~

By deleting a thread in it's entirety, you also delete all of the information that was offered and the ability to learn from it.  Why toss good, helpful advice on a subject that people might need if they go through the archives looking for help on their problem?  Just because someone couldn't be bothered to read the FAQ where it says they discourage old threads coming back if there is no valid content?

The information on resurrecting old threads is available.  The fact that some people don't bother to read it is the issue.  I'd much rather have an OP have the ability to update and leave the thread in the archives for those who might need it.

LOL.   I had not noticed the date.  I was wondering where this one came from.
