The tragedy of course is that Martin didn't smash his head like a pumpkin, because then he would have been alive and exonerated by law today.

That's a new low, even for you.

Wouldn't call it a new low. Completely unsupported by law and evidence, but that's nothing new.

Nah, completely supported by law and evidence. And there aint nothin lower than the shit you pass off all day Yachtie.

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (7/24/2013 7:46:19 AM)

There was so little evidence of George provoking anything, a pro-prosecution judge would not even let the jury hear the "Aggressor" section of the jury instructions.

If Trayvon had survived, it would have been a lot easier to convict him of a crime with the law and evidence available.

Asswipe. The jury has spoken.

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (7/24/2013 7:47:28 AM)

Or as O'Mara put it, what would Trayvon have been charged with if the police had gotten there in time? Aggravated assault, two counts?

Kirata -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (7/24/2013 7:47:29 AM)

Granting that unabashedly racist goups exist, I think a lot of what get labelled as "racism" isn't really racism per se. I've known a lot of whites in my life, many of whom didn't have a high opinion of "blacks". But take note of those quotation marks. They didn't mean the neighbors and friends they worked and barbequed with and who shared their values, but happened to be black. They didn't see them as "blacks" (quotation marks). They were just people like themselves.

Sure, they were black, but race wasn't the issue. And, it clearly works both ways. Black people who don't echo the black cultural narrative are attacked as "Uncle Toms" and "House N*gg*rs". Sure, they're black, but, again, race isn't the issue. It seems to me that to a large extent the terms "white" and "black" have become code words for values and attitudes, perhaps most particularly with respect to education, hard work, and issues of victimization versus personal responsibility.

Dude! Be serious! Trayvon was black... it is unlikely he would have been exonerated.

And the fact that after a year long state investigation, a year long federal investigation, and a criminal trial, there isn't a single shred of valid evidence that could rationally support the assertion that Zimmeramn was acting on racist intentions?

That's not just evidence of absence, that raises the bar to where people making the extreme assertion need to start coughing up some extreme proof.

Given the history of racism in this country, there is nothing extreme in seeing potentially racist motivation in Zimmerman's decision to follow Trayvon.

Except a total lack of evidence.

In the case that was before them, and it would have turned out same self defense on Martins word had they been presented with that. So, completely supported by law and evidence.

Dance, little doggie, dance.

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (7/24/2013 7:51:19 AM)

And the evidenced presented there would be Trayvon attacking someone as they screamed for help for nearly a minute with no evidence of the guy Trayvon attacking having provoked him.

Yes, yes, yes... the "good ones" are excepted. [8|]

You've been called on that repeatedly, and have run away each time.

Exactly *what* history in America of brown skinned Hispanic people like Zimmerman lynching black people like Martin?

And don't hand me the racist crap that an Hispanic wearing a Land's End jacket looks like a gangbanger.

Well, there you go, again ... bringing level-headed and logical thoughts into a debate. You must stop doing this!

Oh, bullshit, stalking him, waving a gun at him, hitting him....same amount of provocation and attacking that Zimmerman proved.......zero. That wasn't what got him off., what he proved, only lack of evidence, (there are two very wrong things about that case, the gun and how it came out, and the route, both totally unbelievable) however, same same.

Trayvon had the right to be there, he was stalked, he was in fear for his life.

No evidence and Zimmerman dead instead? Should have went exactly the same way.

Jury Finds Roderick Scott Not Guilty

Not guilty: The verdict in the manslaughter trial of Roderick Scott. After more than 19 hours of deliberations over two days, a jury acquitted the Greece man in the shooting death of Christopher Cervini... Cervini's family members say justice wasn't served. They say Christopher was murdered...

"The message is that we can all go out and get guns and feel anybody that we feel is threatening us and lie about the fact,” said Jim Cervini, Christopher’s father. “My son never threatened anybody. He was a gentle child, his nature was gentle, he was a good person and he was never, ever arrested for anything, and has never been in trouble. He was 16 years and four months old, and he was slaughtered."

"How can this happen to a beautiful, sweet child like that?” asked Cervini’s aunt Carol Cervini. “All he wanted to do was go home.

Christopher Cervini was white.

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (7/24/2013 8:02:57 AM)

Considering the gun was holstered until right before the shot, if Trayovn had killed George, he would have killed someone with a still holstered gun. There would have been a witness with Trayvon on top of George, with George screaming for help for nearly a minute, with zero evidence of any force ever used or implied against Trayvon.

And it wasn't a lack of evidence that got George off. It was the overwhelming evidence that George was a victim of an attack that he defended himself from. As Juror B37 said, what it came down to is the last moments before the shot, and in those moments, George's life was in danger, which is why there was nowhere to go but not guilty.

I haven't run away from anything. I have repeatedly stated my position.

I never handed you anything about jackets... I don't know where you got that from.

Once again you are presuming that racism is an all or nothing thing. It is not.

Yes, you are running away, and yes, you are repeatedly pulling drive by assertions that have been completely debunked.

So what?

I didn't say it was impossible, I said it was unlikely. The fact remains that being black makes you more likely to be convicted of a crime.
