So I've had an interesting idea lately, and I'd thought I'd put it our there lately to see if anyone thinks it would fly.

The idea occurred to me when I received an email from the Australian Red Cross talking about an upcoming fundraising event whereby people bake cakes and other goods in order to get donations.

Now, Im not really one for bake sales, so I thought to myself "Wouldn't it be kind of fun to put this to the online kink community and get people to donate to the Red Cross in exchange for me posting clips of me stepping on and crushing various baked goods?"

The way I see it working is this: I would post a clip as a kind of teaser, to show people what they would be in for, and then I would set various fundraising goals and at each goal I would create a post another clip (I'm thinking within 7 days of the goal being reached).

People would donate via an official Red Cross DOnation page (anyone who registers with The Red Cross for the Big Cake Bake charity events gets one of these pages). This means that your donations would go straight to the Red Cross, so there's no risk of me scamming the money out of you :-P (Also, if you are in Australia, all donations of over $2 are tax-deductable)

The sort of goals I had in mind where:

Teaser clip of me steping on cupcakes in my red, peep-toed heels

$20 - I step on a cream-filled sponge cake while wearing red peep-toed shoes.

$50 - I step on several cupcakes while wearing black pony-boots.

$100 - I step on several cupcakes with my bare feet

$200 - I step on a cream-filled sponge in my bare feet

$250 - I step on a chocolate birthday cake with lit candles in black pony-boots

$500 - I step on a birthday cake with lit candles with my bare feet

$1000 - I step on a multi-tiered wedding cake in my wedding shoes (as in the actual shoes I will be wearing at my wedding next year). This will be posted on August 27 to give time for me to meet the following add-on goals...

$1,500 - After stepping on the wedding cake I eat it off my shoe.

$2,500 - After stepping on the wedding cake and eating it off my shoe, I continue to step on it with my bare feet

Over $3,000 - After stepping on the wedding cake, eating it off my shoe and trampling it in my bare feet, I finish my sitting on what remains of it.

What do you think? Hit or miss?

Oops...I probably should have posted a link to the Australian Red Cross Big Cake Bake so you could read some more of what this is all about:

I think I'd rather donate money to Zimmerman's defense team than this...

*Facepalm*

I can't believe I did not recognise the irony of holding a cake bake for charity until you made that post.

At least it's not a charity that specifically focuses on overseas aid work, I guess? Now I can't help wondering whether there's greater irony in buying and eating food for charity, or paying for someone to destroy food for charity...I guess it's ultimately the same ends (and, yes, it is just possible I do take things too seriously, sometimes!)

Anyway, I'm still convinced that if I could reach the right audience then this idea could work. People sell food crush clips all the time, after all. I'm not saying I could raise heaps, but more than nothing is, after all, the very definition of "something".

Also, now I'm re-reading the title of my thread and I just have to ask...how many people clicked on this thread thinking "Who's Charity?"

I think this is a pretty brilliant idea. Bet you could get quite a few donations.
