CM swings left.. I'm often curious how far left. Where do you fit on the liberal / conservative spectrum. Yes, you can only choose one. Maybe another poll we'll break out pro military, libertarian, fiscal conservative..

Reagan would be totally rejected by modern Conservatives.

reality swings left

I have a few suggestions for people to be resurrected and placed in control of the US government.

1) Minamoto no Yoritomo

2) William the Bastard.

3) Henry V, Plantagenet.

4) Robert the Bruce

5) Alexander the Great.

6) Julius Cesar

7) Emperor Hadrian

8) Any of the de' Medici family

9) Boudica

10) Either Attila the Hun or Genghis Khan or Kublai Khan.

I was born a Liberal. My grandfather's best friend was Alex Rose, the man who ran the New York Liberal Party for 40 years. When I turned 18 and my mother brought me down to register, her friends in the League of Women Voters didn't have to ask what party affiliation.

They did and she spoke up saying Liberal. I didn't disagree because it would never have occurred to me to be other.

These days as the liberal party really holds no power, I am a Democrat for the purposes of being able to vote in a primary. However I do cringe a little as having to identify as anything other than a Liberal.

I consider myself an Independent Libertarian, although on some issues I trend Conservative.

I know pretty much nothing about American politics and have zero interest in learning about it.

So I guess I can't answer your poll.

I'm a democrat. I sit more toward the middle of the spectrum. There have been times where I've disagreed with the far left but much prefer their ideas over someone to the far right. I would vote for a republican if I agreed with his views...I have yet to vote for one.

Kana -> RE: Where do you fit politically... (7/14/2013 8:57:04 AM)

None of the above.I have this irrational belief in the Constitution.

In other words, that means I think both of the sellout, moneygrubbing, shortsighted, corrupt, lying, thieving, parties suck.

ETA-Personally,if you pinned me down by left/right standards,I'd likely lean towards the right on issues of foreign policy and the left on domestic

I'm a Jeffersonian Democrat. I believe in being socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Although to accomplish that there must be compromises made in both areas.

What I really object to is the polarization of American politics. Which has resulted from the Republican party swinging to the far right.
Nelson Rockefeller was a Republican governor of New York when I was young. Yet modern Republicans would view his policies as dangerously left wing.

You know that Jefferson once defined the point of Government as "To protect the wealthy and their property from the impoverished masses," right?

Just asking...

Yes, you can only choose one.

Then my choice will be not to choose.

That's a new one on me. Was that in reference to the government of England and their treatment of the colonies by any chance?

littlewonder -> RE: Where do you fit politically... (7/14/2013 7:47:46 PM)

I call myself middle of the road but leaning more toward the right when it comes to a lot of things. However, when I was growing up I was the GreenPeace hippy girl. But I outgrew my naivety. The older I get the more right wing I become.
