WebWanderer -> RIP, personal accountability: man sues Apple for his porn addiction (7/13/2013 12:57:20 PM)

This is not a prank:

"A lawyer in Nashville, Tennessee filed a lawsuit against Apple, Inc. that blames the company for the dissolution of his marriage and the collapse of his mental health. According to CNet.com, Chris Sevier filed suit in Federal District Court earlier this summer because Apple devices do not have a filter that keeps them from playing pornography. The devices purportedly failed to protect Sevier from his porn addiction, so the attorney is suing the company in an effort to have all of its devices equipped with a filter that blocks sexually-themed content.

Sevier said that when a typing error led him to “Fuckbook.com” rather than Facebook, he was overtaken with the eroticism of the images and films he found there and that he became addicted to Internet pornography, causing difficulty in his marriage. The images of naked young women on the web amounted to “unfair competition” for Sevier’s wife, he said in the complaint, writing, “The Plaintiff began desiring younger more beautiful girls featured in porn videos than his wife, who was no longer 21.”

Moreover, “(h)is failed marriage caused the Plaintiff to experience emotional distress to the point of hospitalization. The Plaintiff could no longer tell the difference between Internet pornography and tangible intercourse due to the content he accessed through the Apple products, which failed to provide him with warnings of the dangers of online pornography whatsoever.”

News article
Full text of the complaint (Make sure to get some popcorn first, though - it's 50 pages of hilarity.)

Damn...the asshole thinks he can get away with it?

That is like suing your parents for heredity health issues..."Dad had a bad heart and now I have to take all of these pills..."

Does this mean I can sue collarme, the VAA and the rest of the mods, and Tazzy for my addiction to reading the forums?

If so, I plan to sue for a total of two cartons of Marlboro red 100's box, three bottles of Black Velvet, and VAA to come and train my family in what it means to be responsible, train blu to understand that 3AM is not play time, and to track down and discipline the damn drunk that called me 6 damn times between 3:30 this morning and 5 am looking for Sean.

Or I will settle for two new york style pizza with everything but pineapple, anchovies, hot peppers, and capers.

If I cant sue, can I give VAA the drunk's phone number so she can call him up and do her Domme thing on his ass?

Ummm, that's a rather unlikely typo.

Google's probably thanking their lucky stars he didn't use Android or Google voice claiming they returned 'fuckbook' when he said 'facebook' during a search. [:D]

I don't know about you, but when I need to type in a URL, I just bang my fist on the keyboard. 5% of the time, it works every time! [:)]

This is America galdurnit. Suing is your god given right, and the philosophy is if you put enough people on said lawsuit, the chances of it getting settled out of court go up drastically. This is why you see people sue the state of Texas when they slip outside a restaurant, or sue Chrysler Motor company when their Imperial's radio fritzes out. So think big, in yours, president, vice president, boy scout troop leaders. Pile em on and by nicotine you will get those cigs

Actually...

1. Suing is not exactly a right. Filing to sue is. Chances are, the judge will throw this out.

2. Funny you should mention that, about adding defendants to the suit. I found it odd that a lawyer wouldn't do that. He sued Apple, but not the ISP, not the hosting site, not the performers, etc.

3. The suit is preposterous. He implies he was completely unaware that porn existed on the Internet, and that he cannot distinguish between porn and real sex (really!). And that slap at his wife not being 21 won't win him many points.

First of all, having never heard of fuckbook.com, I checked the site out.

First to get any decent interaction on the site, it costs, which means this individual had to pay a fee to see any real porn.

Now, to be honest, tumblr is free, has lots of selections, although the pictures I get of redheads are, for the most part barely 18 and thus raises problems with some members of collarme claiming it is "almost kiddy porn."

So this individual filing this lawsuit had to make a conscious decision to pay money to use the sites he has listed, there fore, not Apple or anyone else is responsible for his attraction to internet porn, with the possible exception of Hypnotazzygirl and HypnoVAA.

I have it on good authority, (Harvey) that those two individuals are continuing the old CIA project MK Ultra.

I suspect that these two women are trying to recruit others to participate in there heinous plan of taking over the world through mind control.

My guess is his lawyer only took the case because he needed some billable hours. The real fun is going to happen after it's booted and he tries to collect his fees from this rocket surgeon.

I can see it now: a whole slew of HNGs suing because they can't get laid.... because they won't leave the damn house!

LadyPact -> RE: RIP, personal accountability: man sues Apple for his porn addiction (7/13/2013 8:43:34 PM)

So, the dude was smart enough to pass the bar, but *not* intelligent enough to shut off a site he <cough> accidentally <cough> came across due to an incorrect log in.

I hope the next thing he logs into is BarneyLovesYou.com.

And that's 'Fuckbook' you say? Thanks for that [:)].
