I will write a bit now having tired a bit of the politics and religion corner of our paradise. In general and as specific as on any subject matter. TO WINDY TO HAUL ROCKS ? Dance Might as well dance. "I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance "aphoristically, and "I do not know what the spirit of a philosopher could more wish than to be a good dancer." Nietzsche knew. Yes, he knew the value of dance. Who among us doesn't turn now and then to such escapist dash for a bit of solace. Historically, we indulge more and more as we have danced to banish evil spirits and summon benevolent ones. The great choreographer Martha Graham called dance the hidden language of the soul, to which I add music, the hidden melody of the soul and dancing to the vibrant spirit of the heart. We dance to show off and sometimes to preen but also for the the joy of it, and as Ms. Graham so accurately added we dance to seduce...as the perpendicular expression of a horizontal desire. We dance at new beginnings, the freshman mixer, New Years and weddings. We all have friends whose incompetent 'floppings' and 'flailings' we watch, nowhere near the the vicinity of the beat of the music, nonetheless so filled with joy and energy that the spectacle is sometimes irresistible. We discover if we try, that it is really not all that difficult. Just get up and move to the music, even if you are all alone and are nowhere but in your own living room.
