Woman Gives Birth To Possible Record-Sized Baby

ARIES83 -> RE: Reocrd Sized Baby 13lbs 12oz (7/14/2013 9:34:44 PM)

Haha! I bet shes glad it was a c-section.

"Michelle Cessna says she has the perfect family now."
In other words, no more kids![:D]

Wow, lots of shitty comments on that page. Apparently she was a bad mother for having an 'obese' baby and the doctor should never have allowed the baby to get bigger than 10lbs. Anyone with any sort of knowledge know - is there actually a way to stop the baby getting bigger short of inducing a premature birth? Also it doesn't count as birth if you have a c-section. So glad the internet has come up with three ways to condemn these people for delivering a healthy child.

I think your link was a record for that hospital.

When I was pregnant with my last child they became concerned with the babies size and predicted that if I went full term I would have a 13lb baby. I gave birth 5 and a half weeks early and he weighed 7lb 2oz. By the age of 14 he was 6ft tall and had feet like doorsteps. At 18 he seems to of steadied off to a healthy 6ft 3

Does it count if all mine FELT like 20 lbs?

I couldn't see the comments. It is sad that anyone would blame the mother for the size of the baby. They should just be happy for her that the little one is healthy.

I didn't see the comments either... Can's say I really understand why people would think having a large baby is the mothers fault... Or even why it's something to look down on...

What are you suppose to do, put the fetus on a diet... If anything it just says "healthy baby" to me...
very healthy baby!

But lets face it... That baby would err... Break... the mold...
It would... Void the warranty...
The ol moose knuckle... It'd only be good for peeing after that...
...no pirate is going to want to cannon ball that cove... Arrrrr.

Well she had a c-section so I think the pirates will be ok.

And really, even a small baby stretches the vagina way way out - if it didn't recover to normal size or very close to it, no woman who ever gave birth would be able to have enjoyable sex again. And yet, there they are, doing it all the time.

The hospital says it doesn’t keep records on things like that, but the two doctors involved say they’ve never delivered a baby weighing this much.

Umm.. yeah they do... its required to keep a record of all deliveries including size, weight, sex, ect.

TieMeInKnottss -> RE: Reocrd Sized Baby 13lbs 12oz (7/15/2013 11:42:02 PM)

This baby was not just heavy, she was LONG! 25"-average for a baby is 19-20". That is over 2'!!! That mother must have felt like there were little feet pushing up her throat every time that kid stretched out!

tazzygirl -> RE: Reocrd Sized Baby 13lbs 12oz (7/15/2013 11:55:49 PM)

Big babies tend to be lazier in the womb.... something I am sure the mother is grateful for... lol

Yer, I actually had a friend who had do what she called "pelvic floor exercises" (don't know if thats the proper name) after her baby, apparently she went overboard with them because as troubling an idea as it is... She could clench it very hard...

Though there are also women who put no effort into their body after a kid, and... It's quite evident...
(I'm thinking of another friend specifically who I knew before and after.)

And I realise I'm probably begining to sound like a slut but I'm far far from it trust me...
PS... Their not my kids...[&:]

KMsAngel -> RE: Reocrd Sized Baby 13lbs 12oz (7/16/2013 4:16:56 AM)

maternal diabetes, whether diagnosed or not is a possibility too. and some babies are just WAY too comfortable inside, i was 3 weeks post-due before my first (9lbs 11oz) was finally unzipped and pulled out. the last few weeks of the 40 weeks is where babies put on weight.

what i find sad is that if this mum has been critisized, yet i've known mums who will smoke heavily the whole pregnancy to keep down birth weight. far far worse. i've also heard of a new mum putting her new baby on a diet because it was "too big"

Kegels. I've done them. Don't know if they were the reason why I bounced back to the way I was before kids or I was just lucky, but I still do them. I've had three (pretty large) kids (the biggest at 9 lbs 5 oz).

Yes, some moms do let themselves go after having children. It may not always be the case, but it seems to me that's because they're not taking time for themselves. After taking care of the kids, significant other, job, and house, it's difficult to set that time aside and even more difficult to find the time.

I'm lucky I work from home. Those few extra hours not spent on the road are invaluable to me.

In: Labor and Birth, Ultrasounds, Guinness World Records [Edit categories]
Answer:

The largest baby ever was born in Canada in 1879, according to Guinness Book of World Records. He weighed 23 lbs, 12 ounces at birth. He lived for less than 1 day. In 1955, an Italian woman birthed a 22 pound, 8 ounce baby that survived. More recently, a 19 lb baby boy was born in Indonesia. http://www.huliq.com/3257/86925/huge-nineteen-pound-indonesian-baby-gets-named-akbar#

Lil bro was well over 12 pounds. That wasn't what upset my mother though.

It was the fact that his nails started growing about three weeks before he was due.

When she saw "Alien" (1977) she said, "HOLY CRAP! That's what it felt like.!"
