~FR~ This is the embodiment of Reagan's, Pinochet's, Thatcher's, et al.'s dreams: that the populace ("the masses") would have all their attention to the prospect of the government just wanting to lock large blocks of dissenters up in various detention centers, and then while none of that happens, the corporatocracy puts 8.5 million out of jobs, and a further 4.5 million having their house stolen from them (in the US). All of them assured that the government would "get out of the way" while the corporations pillaged. Screw all this paranoia about the government wanting to lock you up for dissent, the problem is that people such as the OP don't have the least inclination to dissent about the perdition of the corporations. The government hasn't gotten anywhere near the point of taking you out of your home or your job indiscriminately. The banks have done that by the millions, with no obstruction to speak of. I don't disagree that the government still goes overboard in matters of regulation of personal liberties, but what has cost far too many people in this and other countries is the robbing of their job, their house, their retirement, and everything else with out which 'personal liberty' becomes meaningless. Unless you think that legalization of marijuana in exchange for your house and your pension constitutes a proper trade-off. That seems to be the Libertarian way, after all.
