Why do women dislike mice?

Mastser96,

mistoferin -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 4:35:21 AM)

Who says women dislike mice? I think mice are cute.

Master96 -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 4:43:52 AM)

Well...i have this idea about women. If they sow a mouse around they get on the tables.

Master96,

I'm with erin. I like mice. If I have one in the house, I try to catch it with a have a heart trap before the kitties make a meal of him, which makes me sad.

I don't really mind them one way or the other... as long as they're not biting me or getting into food stuffs in the cupboards.

And if Mum and I were brave enough to relocate a family of possums I think I'd be able to handle a much smaller rodent.

LokisBrat -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 5:29:01 AM)

Being a woman, I would say we're afraid (in general, mind you) of them because they are swift, small and always find the kitchen!!
I hate to see them harmed, but I don't want them in my home.  I would guess one part of the fear of them is a long-held human reality that rodents in the home have historically carried disease.

Master96,

Step away from the TV Master96 ... things are not always as they seem!

Ditto! Little white poofballs with teeny beady eyes and little whiskers!

Cuteoverload gives me lots of mice to coo over.

Who can not love these?

Mice cute. Rats horrific.

We have two ladies at work that share an office right next to the warehouse. One is scared of all bugs but not mice and the other is scared of mice but not bugs. When we hear a scream from their room we all know what type of thing was discovered by who is doing the screaming.

SweetDommes -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 9:55:48 AM)

LA, that second picture is a rat, not a mouse ... but still very cute.

We currently live with 1 pygmy mouse (small enough to sit on a quarter with room to spare) and 6 rats.  We have had in the past a total of 100 mice and 50 or so rats (simultaniously).  The total that we have owned over the last 5 years ... who knows how many.   It's a lot though.  They are soooo cute right when they first open their eyes and they hop around everywhere with their little fluffs [:)]

petwolf22 -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 10:29:20 AM)

i don't mind any animal (bugs, mice, snakes, etc.) unless they've invaded my home.  Luckily my cat is pretty good with torturing and catching the spiders.  We haven't had any mice yet (knock on wood).

My mom once found a drowned mouse in her kitchen sink when she went to pull out the stopper.  Now that was freaky.  Scared us both.

RosaB -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 10:55:17 AM)

I seem to be the strange one around here, just looking at those pics of the mice freaks me out.  I have an irrational fear of all creepy little crawling things.  There are times I can look at them as cute, this isn't one of them.  Just last night I had to sign off my pc in the middle of a wonderful chat cause a palmetto bug invaded my desk while I was chatting with a fella.  He thought it was hysterically funny that I was freaking out through all his so called calming words.  Whatever, I'm strong where it counts.  hmpf.  [:)]

Now, you want to talk about scary, little creepy crawlies ... spiders freak me out like nothing else.  I'm terrified of them, can't even stand to get close enough to squish them, most of the time.  That's what boys are for ...

But the rats and mice ... well, one of my favorite pets was a mouse named Blackfoot (it's a Dexter's Laboratory reference, for those who watch that show) who would ride around the apartment in my pocket, come out and groom me and give me little kisses, then go back in my pocket to sleep for awhile ... how could I be afraid of that?

LaTigresse -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 11:14:42 AM)

Sorry, I have no reason to be even the slightest bit afraid of a cute furry lil ole mouse. I have even had them run up inside my sleeve during cool weather when I reach into the horse feed bin to get grain without looking first. That really tickles!

cuddleheart50 -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 3:07:07 PM)

I don't like mice at all!!! or rats, or spiders, or snakes...YUK!!!!

mariba -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 4:42:19 PM)

I don't dislike mice at all.  They are warm and furry and interesting.  I think men want to think we are afraid of mice so they can come "save" us from a couple ounces of fur.  Of course nobody likes a mouse as an uninvited houseguest (still a mouse would be better than a relative :) ).

YourhandMyAss -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 5:00:51 PM)

That reminds me  of the scene in anne of green gables where she finds a mouse drowned in the custard mix and she wraps it in a towl and quickly throws it outside and later as every one was about to eat the desert she's shouts DON'T EAT IT!

acissej -> RE: mice (6/28/2006 5:02:11 PM)

If a mouse is outside or kept as a pet, it doesn't bother me one bit.  But, I will admit, I once saw a mouse in my apartment while I was living in NYC, and I jumped on the couch as fast as I could.  It was my gut reaction to it.  And I don't think it was that I was scared of that particular mouse at that particular moment, but more scared by the possibility that there might've been more mice--mice that might have liked to crawl on my bed in the middle of the night.
