OK, we've had a bunch of very serious gun based threads recently. I'd like to bring up something that had me rolling on the floor when it finally soaked in.

Has anyone been following the capture of the Miami Terrorist Cell [shudder]. You know, the ones who wanted Al-Qaeda to send them boots?

The government very seriously announced that the raid had found no explosives or guns.

Wait a minute, the cops raided a gang headquarters in south Miami and didn't find a single gun?

We may have uncovered the first Quaker terrorists.

I'm serious. Imagine grabbing ten or so guys at random in that neighborhood and not coming up with at least a Jennings or a Charter Arms. I'd expect at least a Glock or two or a Mac-10.

AND these guys didn't have so much as a Roy Ryder bb gun among them????

Sounds like an unusual enough of a circumstance to support probable cause for a search...

Not even a box-cutter? Is it possible that since they were looking for boots, they were going to kick something down or someone to death?

Yup, I can just hear it.... "Your honour, a reliable informant has informed us that a gang in south Miami doesn't have any guns. We'd like to assemble a swat team and search the place. Obviously something weird is going on.

The present government has to look like they're doing something.
Winding up for the next election, instilling more fear. Even if it's along the lines of entrapment, what's new?

Why are so many people so agitated about terrorists? The number of deaths caused by terrorists is insignificant. It is like a drop of water in the ocean. What I am worried about is traffic accidents. In single USA states such as Florida or Texas there were more highway deaths in 2002 than the overrated number of casualities during 9/11. Who gives a fuck about a couple of CIA-mindfucked and -nurtured and -financed terrorists? Put them back on the street and give them some ice-creams.

John on a converse side of things, two yarns from my Aussie Army Days and am thinking of the ideal blokes who should be raiding wannabee terrorists...

Early morning platoon parade (5am) for a platoon who had quit a heavy drinking session three hours before... Platoon lined up in parade formation and all wearing boots and carying their rifles... Platoon commander (yours truely) still feeling seedy after desperatly trying to keep a straight face, the Platoon Sgt nearly bursting a blood vessel (he and I were correctly dressed) roared the imortal words: "The enemy has invades and paras have landed near by what are you going to do.. Kick the bastards to death?"
From my time with SAS I was told this one. Again early moringe parade 5am, winter and by orders the unit paraded naked including bare feet. The Senior Warrant Officer inspects the troopers and spies a hard on pointing out front.. He hits it with his swagger stick and looks at the trooper waiting for him to wince.. No reaction.. Hits it hard cock again several times as hard as he could.. No reaction on the face of the trooper but notices smirks from troopers either side.. "Son when I thrash you hard cock with the stick, you didn't flinch. I'm proud of you. Good soldier." Trooper replies "Didn't feel a thing sir." " Why?" the warrent officer asked "Belongs to the man behind me sir!"......
