TempoRei -> Please to meet you... (7/21/2013 4:37:30 PM)

Hope you can give some guidance.

I had played a little with bondage, some spanking, and had the pleasures of having some subs on my command.

This year, during a trip, I decided to look for a whip. It was rather expensive. What was the point of paying R$187,00 for a toy I don't actually seek use? And I began to ponder if I really needed, or wanted the commitment that it implied.

Back home, begun Reading about it, contacting old friends, ans so on, and decided I really wanted to dig into BDSM. Will try to contact people, seek more opportunities, and see what happens.

I have subscribed to fetlife, not that much opportunities, around my área (I live in a small town).

I have to figure a few things out by myself, but would like to hear from more experienced people. How did you started on this line?

Welcome.

You paid $187,00 for a whip? Could you post a pic of this rather pricey toy?

He said that he was looking at a whip that cost R$187. Not $187 US dollars. I am a boy/slave to a Master the past 15 years and have married Him according to the new law in Washington State. This means that we are a gay male couple. i am currently 56 yrs old, 126 pounds, and 5'10" on a good day. i like enemas, being a cum dump, ws, cbt, tt, gas masks, mummification, looking at ff, sensory deprivation and much more. i am an avid stamp collector of US and Canada stamps. No valuable ones i'm afraid. This hobby is just for fun and am not looking at the monetary value of it. Hiv neg and d/d free.

Here is the link:

The problem was not the price, but was the first time I thought it showed a commitment. I had never bought anything but rope and some cheap paddles to my play. In the end I didn't pay.

But I gess you understand the point...

Yes, it was US$ 187,00. It is more expensive now on the site than was on the shop...

First, let Me welcome you to the forums.

OK, I was getting a little confused there. What you have there is a flogger. It's elk with a decent length in the falls. You probably paid too much for it.

However, that's not what most people would call a whip. Technically, anything with a handle that has leather attached to it is defined as a whip, BUT most people tend to use that term for anything with plaited leather attached to a flexible core for the handle and generally has a cracker on the end. A sixteen plait whip (number of braids) that's four feet in length absolutely can retail for $187.00. That price can be a little higher if you are buying from a vendor at a con because they have to increase their base price and add in a slight bump for paying for space in the vendor's room.

Elk isn't bad. It's (roughly) a medium thud flogger. It's not a difficult toy to learn to use. If you have a copy of "Screw the Roses (Send Me the Thorns)" there's a nice section in there about areas of the body to target and the areas that you want to avoid. You want to read that. Also, you want to learn how to flog so that the falls are hitting where you want them to. That's not much aside from learning how close you want to stand away from the person you are flogging so that you are hitting them with the leather and producing the sensation that you want. Just letting the leather brush the skin will be different than the brunt of the force coming through from allowing 3/4's of the falls to make contact. If you have a kink community in your area, somebody can teach you the finer points of flogging in a relatively short period of time.

I hope that helped you out a bit.

LadyPact, it's not him. The freaking SITE calls it "Whip, flogger, LB, elk, Blk" so they're not clear themselves.

I have no idea what "LB" is supposed to mean.

TempoRei, welcome to the forums.

TempoRei, welcome to the forums.

That's the descending categories from the site. Main category - whips, sub-category - flogger, LB (leather bound) to describe handle type, leather type - elk, color - black.

Thanks DarkStevens

I had a faint idea about the price, and it looked very well crafted. I found another one, cheaper, but with time maybe well get one there.

About this difference of whips, I still have to learn to use and call each one. Not long ago I didn't knew the difference between a whip and a paddle.

Didn't know about the book, will look for it.

This kind of information, right now, is what I am seeking.

In my area I could not find any group, but will dig a little more, sure will find some perverts around. Maybe in some bigger cities, but I am living in a pretty small town, in a conservative region, in South America. Will try to read, search for groups, but I believe I have a lot to learn on the foruns.

One doubt I still have is how to recognize I am not harming my subjects unnecessarily. I like the idea of trial and error, but I am a bit afraid of the possible consequences of the errors.

Sure did. Appreciated.
