This is completely personal e-mail but - if anyone to whom I gave my personal e-mail address has e-mailed me in the past week (guess) is surprised I haven't responded it is because I never got it.

My computer is screwed up again and I am not getting my messages. I am sorry and am not purposely being rude. I am saying this because someone asked if they could e-mail me via private e-mail and I gave them my address so they could.
I am going to call a computer repair guy and hopefully they will be able to fix it. Sorry. - Susan

Check your mail server settings in your e-mail program if you recently upgraded or patched the e-mail program. Typically the send server is something along the lines of smtp.provider.net where as the receive server is often mail.provider.net

You may have an online accessable personal e-mail page, or internet provider (IP) webmail to access same downloaded messages on the mail server. If so login there and see if any were received at the mail server.

Unless you have changed something, it's doubtful your computer is the problem... sounds like your IP's incoming mail server, or it's configuration.

I recommend getting in touch with your IP's customer service/tech support to inform them before calling out a computer guy.

Try sending a message to your own e-mail address and see if it gets delivered or goes MIA? Then tell the tech support munchkin the results from your loop (send/receive) test.
