Sorry. missed the update that you aren't using cooking items.

But since you had an exhaust fan in the room previously devoted to this hobby, can you install that fan in the kitchen?

But I don't use nail polish or remover at the kitchen table. I don't want the smell in there.

You may want to consider putting the exhaust fan in the workshop, and having to finish and clean up projects in there before starting on gun repair in there. Then putting the finished guns away before going back to a woodwork project.

You said you have a carport. You can't get a small electric cooking hotpot and plug it up outside somehow and do your work there, at least when it's nice outside?

That's my only suggestion short of building a small shed in the backyard.

He lives in the arid part of Texas...which equals HOT!!!!

I live in the Piney Woods, which is Northeast Texas. At times we share the weather. Been in the 90s/100s lately and Texas is entering its 3rd year of a drought. I understand not wanting to be in the heat, especially if one has health issues. I almost got heat exhaustion last year just waiting in the van while Mom ran in for her medicine, while the windows were down and no shade. Now she has a new drugstore in a grocery store (they give us free antibiotics if we get infections) so when she picks up her meds, we get some fresh foods as well.
