First a bit of a back story, there was a geneticist some years ago working on genetic modification of a living organism, now granted he was looking at genetic based medicine, but the far reaching aspects of his research he addressed in a paper on the subject, including the genetic augmentation of a living breathing human. He was doing his research at a campus that was part of the UNC system, so I had access to his email address.

I sent him an email saying if he ever wanted a guinea pig for the changing of a human's initial DNA structure to a new one and thus forcing the human body to adapt to the new coding, I was willing, providing he could solve the fact that such a process would be so stressful to the subject that it would resort in organ failure due to over exertion, a point he addressed in his paper.

Since then, I have seen little on the subject outside of genetic medicine.

Now I did have some 'specifications' that I would prefer to be in the upgraded version of me, another 8 to twelve inches in height, a genetic predisposition to above average (400% above average actually) human muscle mass and subsequent strength, increased bone density to provide a natural internal armor at least in the rib cage, faster reflexes, basically the human equivalent of a Klingon with the rugged good looks of say, one of the early actors that played Tarzan... as well as a penis that was slightly larger than what would have been the proportionate size for that body build. The reason is that I am slightly larger than average now. Actually, to be honest, I suggested the size that had been hinted at for a male Klingon during some of the next gen and ds9 more risque scenes.

Now I agree that size does not matter, unless it is so small that penetration is physically impossible. My idea was to be so well endowed that it would be fun to see the looks on women's faces when it was revealed. Since then, of course, a long time woman friend has pointed out the flaw to my idea, given the size that a male Klingon allegedly has, most women would not only say no, but hell no.

She also pointed out that I would need pants custom tailored to accommodate such an organ. Hell there are some jeans now that I cant wear simply because I run the risk of loss of circulation.

My point is that at the time I came up with this idea, I was inexperienced and still learning, even though I was in my mid twenties. Since then my ideas have changed considerably.

Since inexperience can be a lifelong problem, given the fact that the male human typically does not take critiquing of his technique well at all, penis enlargement seems to be the answer.

History has shown many times to what extent the human male will go to advertise or suggest the size of his genitalia. I refer you to the cod pieces of old England, the long pointy additions to men's shoes in France for the same period, the popularity of fast, flashy, expensive sports cars or hot rods of the middle class today, and the idiot that goes out and buys the biggest and baddest gun on the market with no fucking clue how to safely shoot the damn thing.

A woman once asked why so much research was done toward perfecting Viagra. While it was a unintended side effect rather than the result they were actually trying to achieve, you do notice that the pharmaceutical companies were quick to hope on the Erectile Dysfunction fix it drug market.

Need I say anything more?

In fact, its because men are simply now discussing it and admitting to it more. The incidence hasnt increased.

Rush Limbaugh's show

My eyes are so tired I read this as 'Rubbish Limbaugh'. Same thing, at any rate.

Signed and commented upon.

This shouldn't be all that surprising, the hypocrisy of places in the bible belt and the rest of god's little acre is amazing, the same place that gets upset if movies feature nudity or two guys kissing, has people who think WWE and violent 'torture porn' movies are good for the kids (I don't have the kink handy, but they did an analysis of movie habits in these areas, and they found that with movies like Hostel and Saw and such, that parents would take their kids to R rated movies like that, but wouldn't take them to movies rated R for sexuality (note, I am not saying it is a good thing to take a 12 year old to a movie showing sexuality enough to get it an R, I am saying I would rather they see sex then someone being chopped up and tortured).

I have been to several towns un yonder reaches, and it was fascinating, along the main roads you would see evangelical churches sides by side with strip clubs, I couldn't believe how many strip clubs and such I saw,and from friends of mine who travel the region, they say it is really common...and they get upset by an ad for a woman's health clinic? After what I saw, not surprised they would consider penis enlargement ads and ads for ABS and such decent, they have pretty cockeyed morals IMO..got nothing against strip clubs and adult bookstores and such, but am against people who pride themselves on being Gods chosen people and such who must be habituating these places, least be honest about yourself, I would respect them a lot more (on the other hand, people in Houston seem proud of all the strip clubs and such, the couple of times I went there on business was told very proudly about how great they are *lol*....)

My objection is to the hypocrisy of dropping the women's health clinic due to "decency standards" while allowing ads for penis enlargement pills and a local sex shop.

So that's why you dragged Limbaugh into the conversation, not because he's a lightning rod, but because of issues that are irrelevant to him? Oh, puhleeeeeeze.

I disagree with CC's decision and their hypocrisy is obvious. But don't try to sell us on factual reporting of evidence by ginning up faux outrage and making laughable analyses like this being an issue of "a media corporation get[ting] between a woman and her right to critical health information."

Exaggeration and hysteria just defeat your purpose.

An estimated 150 million men worldwide have some degree of ED, and more than twice that many are expected to be affected by 2025. - See more at: http://www.pharmacytimes.com/publications/supplement/2004/SUPP_2004-07/SUPP_2004-07_1286#sthash.fainemQ3.dpuf

Sorry its not that simple and numbers are rapidly increasing. Besides numerous causes and side affects women are not helping in general when they become ugly on the inside...[;)] in fact[:D]

tazzygirl -> RE: According to Clear Channel, women's health is "indecent" ... but not penis pills and sex shops (7/29/2013 10:45:07 PM)

In the past, erectile dysfunction (ED) was taboo for public discussion, but it has now gained social and medical recognition as a condition affecting millions of men. More than a decade ago, a National Institutes of Health Consensus Conference defined ED as "the consistent inability to achieve and maintain a penile erection adequate for satisfactory sexual intercourse."1 The word consistent is used because an occasional episode of ED occurring in men is normal.

From the actual study....

Abstract
OBJECTIVES:
To project the likely worldwide increase in the prevalence of erectile dysfunction (ED) over the next 25 years, and to identify and discuss some possible health-policy consequences using the recent developments in the UK as a case study.

METHODS:
Using the United Nations projected male population distributions by quinquennial age groups for 2025, the prevalence rates for ED were applied from the Massachusetts Male Aging Study (MMAS) to calculate the likely incidence of ED. The MMAS has the advantage of being the first study to provide population-based rates rather than rates based on clinical samples. All the projections were age-adjusted.

RESULTS:
It is estimated that in 1995 there were over 152 million men worldwide who experienced ED; the projections for 2025 show a prevalence of approximately 322 million with ED, an increase of nearly 170 million men. The largest projected increases were in the developing world, i.e. Africa, Asia and South America.

DISCUSSION:
The likely worldwide increase in the prevalence of ED (associated with rapidly ageing populations) combined with newly available and highly publicized medical treatments, will raise challenging policy issues in nearly all countries. Already under-funded national health systems will be confronted with unanticipated resource requests and challenges to existing government funding priorities. The projected trends represent a serious challenge for healthcare policy makers to develop and implement policies to prevent or alleviate ED.

As men get older, their dicks go limper.... its not rocket science... or even new medical knowledge... its been known for centuries. They are just NOW willing to discuss it. As I said.

Well they they they.

Fact one you said numbers were NOT increasing

So you claim this has been known for centuries and only NOW we admit it?

Really? Just checkin because I dont wanna come back for nothing.

The most extensive catalog of stimulants was provided in the first century by Pliny the Elder in his Natural History. The leek, he asserts, “is an aphrodisiac.” The turpentine tree or terebinth “is a gentle aperient and an aphrodisiac.” Garlic “is believed to act as an aphrodisiac, when pounded with fresh coriander and taken in neat wine.” The water of boiled wild asparagus serves the same purpose. “The Cyprian reed, called donax … taken in wine is an aphrodisiac.” The leaves of clematis “eaten with vinegar … act as an aphrodisiac. … Sexual desire is excited by the upper part of the xiphium root given in wine as a draught; also by the plant called cremnos agrios and by ormenos agrios crushed with pearl barley.” [p. 16]

In ancient Greece and Rome, cures for impotence used parts of animal associated with potency. Snakes (since they were popularly believed to rejuvenate themselves), and the genitalia of roosters and goats were consumed. On the forehead of a newborn foal was found a growth called the hippomanes, which, reported Aristotle, was a powerful aphrodisiac. The penis was often likened to the lizard, which leads Pliny to note the powers of a large one known as the skink: “Its muzzle and feet, taken in white wine, are aphrodisiac, especially with the addition of satyrion and rocket seed. … One-drachma lozenge of the compound should be taken in drink.”

The numbers are not increasing. You are making it out like some new disease is on the horizon. If you take percentages, they arent budging.

1995 there were over 152 million men worldwide who experienced ED

You do realize that the baby boomers are just starting to retire. In fact, they started to turn 65 in 2011.

Between 2000 and 2010, the number of men retiring In the US increased by 20.5%.

http://www.census.gov/prod/cen2010/briefs/c2010br-09.pdf

That isnt an increase in incidence. Its an increase in the population of men who may develop that problem. The risks have not increased. When the baby boomers begin to die off, the numbers will drop drastically. Do we then say there is no longer a problem because the raw numbers of men affected with ED is no longer a "massive problem"?

When you can show me that incidence of ED is not affected by age, as the studies indicate is the biggest factor, then you will have a point.
