That's right conservative, blame the White House for closing those embassies down because they feel there is a real threat. Since you would blame the White House for anything and everything. Heck it could rain on your birthday, and you would blame President Obama for it! Thinking I'm being to harsh with you? Try to imagine how much you would yell and shout if those embassies had remained open and were attacked. Is it lower than your current 'junior high school' attitude problem? No, then I guess the White House did something intelligent and wise....

During the last couple months of his re-election campaign pResident Obama/Soetoro/Soebarkah repeatedly and pompously proclaimed: "Osama bin Laden is dead. Al Qaeda is on the run!" Seems to me that the White House closing those embassies of ours because they feel there is real threat (of a terrorist attack by Al Qaeda/Taliban) makes it rather obvious that it is Obama/Soetoro/Soebarkah who is on the run, not Al Qaeda/Taliban.

What good does it do to close down the embassies anyway? If there were terrorists planning an attack on an embassy, would they really care if it was open or closed? I can just picture them: "Oh darn! The embassy's closed. Now what are we gonna do? Well...let's go home and see what's on Al-Jazeera tonight."

I just see it as postponing the event to when they are open again or to when they will do the most damage..

what i dont get is.. oh gee, Snowden made public how the NSA gets info so why would the terrorists keep using those tactics knowing that the NSA are watching/listening to them?

what i find disconcerting is the several prison breaks in mid-east countries where hundreds of caught terrorists are now free again.. sorta defeats the purpose of catching them in the first place.. [8|]

Catching terrorists only to have them break out of prison does indeed sorta defeat the purpose of catching them in the first place...sorta supports the reasoning of killing them from the get-go.

try the truth jim... here goes
Obama warned that the al Qaeda threat “has shifted and evolved from the one that came to our shores on 9/11.” he went on to warn of more localized threats,” as he put it, “against Western diplomats, companies, and other soft targets.” In other words, exactly the kind of threat we facing today.

Decimating taliban/al qaeda rank and file in afghanistan and pakistan, doesnt automatically make all al qaeda/taliban curl up and die at the same time everywhere. Yemen is not Afghanistan, or Pakistan, neither is Egypt...I dont think you quite have the hang of the logistics....

but yanno, dont let that stop you....if he ignored it and something did happen, you would be screaming impeachment, again

Snot just the US embassies, the UK, french and canadians have closed theirs in a number of countries...simply because of the outbreaks from the prisons.
Imagine the outcry if they didnt and more people died, the intel is out there, wether its good or bad, saving face... is what it comes down to

Then why no outcry from the left regarding what happened at Benghazi? Prior to the attack on 11/11/12, the UK and other countries had closed down their facilities in Benghazi due to repeated attacks and intel predicting more attacks...not to mention the previous attacks on our facility. And what did the Obama administration do? Not only refused repeated requests for more security personnel at our facilities in Benghazi but, moreover, actually decreased security personnel at our facilities in Benghazi. What Benghazi comes down to is at best Dereliction Of Duty and/or Malfeasance In Office or at worst Treason.

Lucylastic -> RE: ALERT, still scared ? You are supposed to be. (8/6/2013 7:26:04 AM)

mmmm and why did the repubs cut spending on security before it????
you keep hoping for it, it keeps your lil mind from ignoring just how bad your side are doin...
There has been outcry about benghazi from all sides, but yourside has been holding onto it, begging for their blankie and letting everything else go, oh except cuts to food stamps,"so called entitlements, etc etc.
theres blame on all sides, but im not saying my/our/left/lib/dem/ etc shit dont stink
yoursides is all about every smell is obamas
sickening bullshit spurting non stop, what would you like a breath mint or some toilet paper?

people shoulda figured out by now.. if a politician's lips are moving, he/she is lying.. That seems to be a universal truth, no matter which party..

You try the truth, for once, Lucy... here it is.

Obama/Soetoro/Soebarkah pompously proclaiming "Osama bin Laden is dead. Al Qeada is on the run!" was nothing but absolute, complete, total and utter self-serving electioneering -- i.e., I've ended George W. Bush's "War on Terror". If, IF, as you believe, he is such an expert on Al Qaeda then he should have heeded the repeated requests from our embassy in Tripoli for more security personnel at our facilities in Benghazi -- you and, moreover he, can't have it both ways. I don't think you know a damn thing about the scope of our logistics capability...

But please don't let that stop you from denying he could have prevented it...he ignored it, did nothing during it, and has lied about it ever since. Me? Screaming impeachment? Again? When have I screamed impeachment? There's no way in hell the Democrat controlled Senate would find him guilty of anything, much less impeach him out of office. Try having him arrested, tried, convicted and appropriately punished for Treason.

Well, have them nutsuckers in the house go to it then. We are still waiting on them to bring treason against St. Wrinklemeat for giving Iran weapons and creating al-Queda in the first place.

So, if any citizens of those countries have trouble and need the help of their embassy, I guess they're SOL. Maybe the Swiss embassy might help out.

I wouldn't agree that it makes us look like a bunch of cowards, although I'm not sure what the political ramifications are to all of this. The government has told us over and over that there is an ever-present threat of terrorism, especially in the countries where our embassies are currently closed. They intercepted a message that something big is in the works, but the message was vague and non-specific as to the place and time.

I'm just not sure what closing the embassies will actually do. I don't think we can shut them down indefinitely, yet there will always be a potential threat in some of the more volatile countries. If the plan was to attack U.S. diplomatic personnel, then are they any safer in their homes? If the ambassador has an official residence, wouldn't that be a target too? Or are they all in hiding in some secure facility somewhere?

We may have to reinvent ways of conducting our diplomatic affairs in some areas of the world. It used to be that the embassy was considered sacrosanct - something that could not be attacked, and diplomatic personnel could not be touched. Even in times of war, a host country is required to allow the enemy diplomats to leave peacefully.

But now, in some countries, those ancient and time-honored customs are being wantonly ignored. Does this mean that we have to rebuild our embassies and turn them into maximum-security fortresses? Should they be taken out of the cities and moved to more secure, remote locations?

tj444 -> RE: ALERT, still scared ? You are supposed to be. (8/6/2013 9:39:59 AM)

why have an embassy in any of those countries??? I think anyone going to Dubai and making gobs of money is crazy too, cuz their laws are very different and what is legal here may not be there, even the simplest things (like drinking as booze is banned) can land you in mucho trouble/jail.. The embassy/diplomats are usually of very little help.. come on, you go into a country like that at your own risk imo.. Tell everyone to get out, close all the embassies permanently and buy your oil from Canada & non-Mid-East countries! Stop sending your money to the terrorists! btw, the US govt has paid companies with terrorist links $150 million in those countries for "rebuilding"..

""The fact that U.S. taxpayer money has ended up in the hands of terrorists and insurgents in Afghanistan is totally inexcusable. It's sickening to think that we've been giving money to the very people who are killing our brave service men and women," Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, one of the co-sponsors, said in a statement. "

Hmmm...during her testimony to the House Oversight Committee on October 10 2012, then Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary responsible for embassy security Charlene Lamb say budget cuts were not the reason she did not increase the number of security personnel at our facilities in Benghazi!!!!

You keep denying, lying and/or obfuscating...it keeps your Kool-Aid impaired brain from realizing just how much your side has been Obamaized...

The only continued outcry about Benghazi has been from my side...your side has declared "What difference, at this point, does it make!", hoping it will be long gone and forgotten for Hillary's 2016 campaign.

The reason our side is all about every smell is Obama's is as simple as simple can be -- he is POTUS/CIC.

Disgusting endless denials, lies, obfuscations and pointing the finger of responsibility at anyone and anything but themselves and their own actions/inactions...would you like some Listerine or a soiled Tampon?

FYI: The House can't even arrest him much less try, convict and appropriately punish him for Treason. That's why you're still waiting on them to do likewise to whomever St. Wrinklemeat is/was. Allow me to suggest you read the U.S. Constitution.

mnottertail -> RE: ALERT, still scared ? You are supposed to be. (8/6/2013 10:50:51 AM)

Section 3 defines treason and its punishment.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

Here, you read it snookums.

'Tail, I'm getting close to needing a translator when you post. Perhaps we should workout some code words or something.

A US embassey is probably the worst places to hide out in those crapistan type countries. They're all "targets."
If you have to lay low just stay in your hotel room as much as possable.
