H.R. 2009

::snipped out the blah, blah, blah and just posting the meat::

A BILL

To prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury from enforcing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013’.

SEC. 2. FINDINGS.

Congress finds the following:

(1) On May 10, 2013, the Internal Revenue Service admitted that it singled out advocacy groups, based on ideology, seeking tax-exempt status.

(2) This action raises pertinent questions about the agency’s ability to implement and oversee Public Law 111-148 and Public Law 111-152.

(3) This action could be an indication of future Internal Revenue Service abuses in relation to Public Law 111-148 and Public Law 111-152 given that it is their responsibility to enforce a key provision, the individual mandate.

(4) Americans accept the principle that patients, families, and doctors should be making medical decisions, not the Federal Government.

SEC. 3. PROHIBITING ENFORCEMENT OF PPACA AND HCERA.

The Secretary of the Treasury, or any delegate of the Secretary, shall not implement or enforce any provisions of or amendments made by Public Law 111-148 or 111-152.

~~~~~~~~~~
Yanno, I gotta give some credit here to the clever case of CYA. By adding in that little 'not the Federal Government' it keeps the states open to putting forth all the legislation they desire regarding pro-choice. Kudos HoR's*. I'd say well-played if there had ever been a snowballs chance in hell of passing it but, for the 40th time, you've wasted your effort and tax payer dollars.
Doing the same thing over and over and over again expecting a different result. Somewhere, in some dictionary.. perhaps in an alternate universe, I'm quite sure there is a word that would label such behavior. I can only assume that the law-makers who put forth this effort did expect a differing result because surely no one who is voted into Congress to represent the People would waste time and money on a project they 'know' is going to fail. Right?
Time is money and you would think that whores.. um.. er .. HoRs would know that better than anyone. They control the purse strings after all.
*HoRs = House of Representatives .. it only 'sounds' like whores.. uh huh.
What glorious hypocrites.
It's amazing that these idiots are also supporting a federal ban on abortions after 20 weeks.
This is almost as funny as people thinking that the Federal Reserve has more control over our money than Goldman Sachs does.
But if you like the fact that after paying thousands of dollars in premiums only to have the insurance company determining what you can or can't have, after all that, you're welcome to it, sweetheart.
What are you on about, in any case? The healthcare law, the IRS, or what? You seem to be a tad confused.
But here we are:
"(4) Americans accept the principle that patients, families, and doctors should be making medical decisions, not the Federal Government."
OK, we got it. You prefer that an insurance company makes life and death decisions, after taking all your money.
Again, you're welcome to it.
PS
Oh wait ...
You didn't know that? Patients, families, but only after the the insurance company say-so, or not?
No?
Oh wow.
BTW, the next huge chunk out of your lifestyle and standard of living is due in the next 5 days.
Thank you for allowing us to serve you.
They Did Nothing.” It’s that simple. The Republicans on the economy? “They did nothing.” On jobs? “They did nothing.” Rebuilding America’s crumbling roads and bridges to help businesses move their products? “They did nothing.” Immigration? “They did nothing.” Bringing American jobs back home instead of shipping them overseas? “They did nothing.” Keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, terrorists and the mentally ill? “They did nothing.”* The list goes on and on.
Surely, you say, Republicans and conservatives will argue that their lawmakers have done something, and we need to be prepared for that defense. Okay, here’s what Republicans in Congress have done: abortion bills. Votes to repeal “Obamacare.” Phony "scandals." Budgetary hostage taking. Filibustering and blocking even the basic functions of our democracy. That’s during the few days in between their lengthy taxpayer-paid vacations when they’re even in session. And if you want to see what the extreme Republicans (yes, "extreme" should be used frequently to modify "Republican") do when they have the votes, look no further than Republican-run states like Texas.
Good thing there are no more pressing issues facing the nation.
I can only hope Obama is right, namely that crazy periods of opposition are the norm for major legislation.
