Phydeaux -> Govt workers to get Obamacare subsidies (8/2/2013 1:38:21 PM)

So the word on the street is that the meetings over the last two days (obama and senate democrats) has been addressing how to quell the rebellion among government workers who do not want to be forced onto Obamacare.

Word on the street (to break soon, if it hasn't yet) is that Obama has promised subsidies for all Congressional staffers etc, that will cover 75% of the cost of obamacare.

What a great win. So us poor schlubs in the private sector have to live with the effects of obama care - but the taxpayers will pay for prefential treatment if you work in government.

Despite the fact that the average congressional staffer earns $74000 and the median income for private sectore is around $40,000.

The problem may be that obama may have a coalition that is large enough to enforce its will - and the rest of us will have to obey or pull a john galt.

While senators make $174,000, staff assistants and legislative correspondents — by far the most common positions in the Senate — have median pay of $30,000 and $35,000, respectively, significantly less than Senate janitors and a fairly low salary for college graduates in a city as expensive as Washington.

And there are plenty of people in the private sector that earn less than that.
In fact, around 1/3 of the private sector earn less than 35000. Why should government get subsidies of 75%?

Whats good enough for the goose is good enough for the gander.

Oh, I thought the hitlerites actually could read at a very sub-human level. Guess I was wrong.

I have read the book, and John Galt was the Osama bin Laden of industrial espionage and terrorism. You should read the book.

You do realize they are already getting a 75% subsidy under the current insurance plans, yes?

The average bank CEO took home $10million apiece this year, in reward for their efforts in absconding with over $6-13 TRILLION OF TAX PAYER MONEY.

So glad to see where your priorities are.

When you have a source more solid than this, I'll be happy to look at it.

Just another chance for spin. Take a look at how it all really went down. The fed. govt. has always paid 75% of employee's federal health care premiums.

lol... maybe if enough of us tell him, he will finally look it up

Lucylastic -> RE: Govt workers to get Obamacare subsidies (8/2/2013 5:00:57 PM)

Ann Rand precludes that being a possibility.

tazzygirl -> RE: Govt workers to get Obamacare subsidies (8/2/2013 5:02:17 PM)

Families with incomes of less than $35k absolutely will receive large subsidies, so don't worry your head about that.
