ShaharThorne -> August Roll Call (8/2/2013 4:27:09 PM)

Okay, so we got lives. I can't be the only one posting all the time (just sometimes when Mom is napping).

I have been trying to diet some. Last weeks' doctor visit had me at 262 pounds with clothes on. I got 2 more diet MD left (finish that off this weekend). Still can't walk too much or else the back spasms take over (thank goodness for flexirel). I am seeing my chiropractor to get my spine realigned. Wednesday's appointment had me popping everywhere.

Lizard and Bo are moving next week. I am going down there on Monday and returning on Thursday. I am entering a damn heatwave. Bo's landlady is trying illegally to evict him...he knows how to use the law and with the bitch taking the fuse for the AC out...I want to be in court with him and Lizard. Now if he does not tell a certain someone where they are moving to, everything should be fine.

Mom's leg is doing pretty good on PT. I used this company 2 times before when I injured my shoulder and strengthen my back core muscles after surgery. She gets to play with the Wii though.

TNDommeK -> RE: August Roll Call (8/2/2013 4:46:00 PM)

My diet has fallen off, waaaaay off. I've been eating out for three weeks now. I hate the guilt feeling. But I do need to get back on. I miss working out.

What else, we just booked our hotel for New Orleans in October for the Vampires Ball. Yay! It's a haunted hotel!

On the down side, my huge ass tv went POP! And I have to get it fixed. That sucks.

Hmm, that's all on my end.

ShaharThorne -> RE: August Roll Call (8/2/2013 4:54:20 PM)

NOLA is known for blowing all diets. I survived on roast beef and shrimp po'boys. Avoid the Bananas Foster...

TNDommeK -> RE: August Roll Call (8/2/2013 5:33:44 PM)

Omg....bananas foster!
Droooooool

ShaharThorne -> RE: August Roll Call (8/2/2013 5:52:15 PM)

And beignets!!!! I forgot the beignets! This was when I could walk around the Quarter and stop at the cafe to have some. Some stores down there have samples of pecan pralines...bad idea browsing while walking.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: August Roll Call (8/2/2013 7:36:50 PM)

All right, you people! Stop talking about sweets this instant! [>:] How am I supposed to keep to the program with all this food chatter going on?! <creeps into the kitchen and grabs the bag of white chocolate chips AND peanut butter pretzels>

Huck's on the east coast wrapping up the interviews for his book. 'Farmer' S has really taken the gardening thing to new heights and we expect a generous harvest this fall. I'm antsy to go to sea, but Cabin Boy can't get away and I prefer not to sail alone so the boat sits in the harbor growing barnacles.

The band is working nearly every weekend. We've gotten so busy it's actually hard to find enough practice time to develop new material. We had no idea there was such demand for our acoustic-eclectic type of stuff around here. We've been asked to do some of the strangest gigs, like a 2-hr show for the ecstatic dancers. Whew, talk about a boy-on-boy dog pile! I was in 7th heaven watching them. If only they were naked!!

Dealing with some trouble with the vacation-rental house next to me, but I'm an expert at navigating the city and police department powers-that-be. it won't be long 'til that mess gets mopped up.

I know there's a month left to summer, but it sure feels like there'll be an early fall around these parts.

MsSylverdawn -> RE: August Roll Call (8/2/2013 8:29:56 PM)

Well its my birth month.. my last of my forties... not sure how I feel about that... Im looking forward to a new school year and football season. We have put off buying a house till football. The heat has finally hit and its 110 in the shade.. Ive been building a brooch bouquet for family wedding so Ive been haunting estate sales for treasures and enjoying it very much. Ive even found some to sell on ebay which has offset the cost some. I love finding treasures and Ive even fixed a few replaced rhinestones and clasps etc..

The hubby's girl has a new job which she loves and they seem to really appreciate her which is good ... the house is lighter when she is happy.. And, finally Im going in for a revision of my lap band which is good news the insurance finally okayed it. So though I hesitate to say it.. knock on wood.. toss salt over my left shoulder etc..etc.. it looks like it might just might be a good month.

LadyPact -> RE: August Roll Call (8/2/2013 10:18:49 PM)

The heat up and down has screwed with My eating habits, too, so don't anybody feel bad. I'm in this habit of not wanting to eat at meal time. Instead, I've been snacking at night. Not good for a short chick like Me.

The smoking battle also went to crap due to some stress. In this last week, I've been fighting My way back. Due to circumstances over the last couple of months, it's been hard to make progress. I think I'm finally getting back on track. Keep your fingers crossed.

Summer is the time of activity in Alaska, both kinky and non. It's like camels with water. In the summer, people here cram in all kinds of social opportunities during the warm months because getting out is so much harder in the winter. In July, we've even attended some things with My husband's co-workers. Picnics and BBQ type of stuff. Not normally My style, but they are some very nice people.

On the kink side, the new wax photo shoots with the holiday themes are still in a holding pattern. Ordering dye is a PITA up here. (Shipping cost is ridiculous.) I have six separate themes planned but considering how much of a mess it makes, I really do want to do it all at once. The bottoms are more than cooperative about this. Getting My materials, not so much.

August is looking to be very good in the play department. Our community is growing and a lot of the folks are new, so we have a number of tops looking to learn. A couple of our more experienced tops moved away, which means we have an imbalance between folks who have been in the scene for a while and those who are just starting out. I'm going to be doing a lot of teaching over the August/September time period.

Miyani -> RE: August Roll Call (8/3/2013 2:09:43 PM)

Diet. Ugh. I don't even want to talk about it. :P

So we'll talk about the rest of it! This was my first year at Pennsic, and while the boy had a little trouble "meshing his masks" (being one of the guys while still being mine), I think he did pretty well, and I certainly had a nice time. Came back with bronchitis, though, thanks in part to his 2 year old and in other part to 5 days of campfire smoke.

The return from the Middle Ages was far too hurried - I've spent the past few days finalizing the move from my old house to our apartment. Some of that is sad - three of my housemates have been my good friends since high school, and they're scattering, one to Michigan and two to Korea. My fourth housemate, well, up until a few days ago he was my husband. Now, I suppose, ex-to-be? But it's all definitely for the best, and we're going to places that make us happy.

Next steps? New car for me, a purge of any belongings that don't easily fit in the new space (I LOVE not owning anything), and the beginning of the Faire season. Hopefully a return to the public scene, I've missed ClubFEM most, and the Crucible quite a bit. And the boy is new to public play, but a huge exhibitionist, so I'm looking forward to giving him that.

LaTigresse -> RE: August Roll Call (8/3/2013 4:38:14 PM)

Wellllll...

The wrist is nearly back to 100%....glad I told the doctors no to the surgery and pins thing.

Lots of food preserving going on. Mostly preserves so far but applesauce season is coming. And loaded the deep freeze with meat this week. The wild blackberries are going nuts and made some really awesome preserves last weekend.

Finally got the GSD's skin allergies gone. It was diet related so switched her food. All new protein and no grains at all. I even make my own doggy cookies now cuz Generic Dude feels he has to give them a treat in the morning.

The job switch in January has been positive. It was a surprising weirdness for me in a few ways. Going from being da boss to just being a peon (even though they try to convince me otherwise). I didn't just fall off the cabbage truck and know otherwise. But I've adapted and am actually loving the difference. I leave the house about 20 minutes before 8, drive leisurely for 10 minutes, drop my stuff at my office, stroll through the courtyard admiring the flowers, get a cuppa coffee and visit with a few co-workers, punch in around 8, stroll through shipping to pick up some paperwork then on through the facility wishing a good morning to all I see, laugh at the cat that comes running to my office when he hears me. I spend the day doing ridiculously easy work and hanging out with a goofy cat. I get free fresh fruit to munch at work and fresh from the garden produce to have for lunch or bring home for dinner. At 4:30 I take a walk back through the courtyard, hit the time clock again, make that 10 minute drive in reverse and am home and changed at a time earlier than I would have locked up at the previous job. I have A LOT more free time.

The wrist really messed up my camera handling and therefor my photography biz. Just getting back in the groove now. Have a commercial job coming up.

The wrist (and a broken toe....)also messed up my ability to work out. I've lost weight since April (the wrist mess) but gotten softer. Been working on that for a few weeks in as much as the wrist and a numb toe will allow. Lot's more hiking going on.

I haven't ridden since before the wrist debacle.........my horses are a handful and a rider has to be on A game. I'm almost ready for that challenge again.

In the beginning phases of planning an s-type sweetie's move here. She's from Boston and just a delight. I am so impressed with her and the way her head works. We are looking at a December/January time frame for her move.

Some stresses with family issues.........adult children can be a real pain in the ass......but hey, who doesn't have stresses with family at some point or other?

Kaiel -> RE: August Roll Call (8/3/2013 8:57:00 PM)

MistressDarkArt -> RE: August Roll Call (8/3/2013 9:31:30 PM)

Happy 40th, Kaiel![sm=birthday.gif]

Kaiel -> RE: August Roll Call (8/3/2013 11:01:20 PM)

Thank you... very much! :)

NiceButMeanGirl -> RE: August Roll Call (8/5/2013 8:45:11 PM)

My precious kitty, Blackie, died on August1 from kidney failure. He was seven and a half years young. I'm not going to get another kitty until after my weight-loss surgery, which is slated to happen in mid-September.

I lost 6 lbs since July 10. WooHoo! So far, since February, I've lost 19 lbs altogether, so this last month was the most successful so far. [:)]

Also on August 1, someone's small dog jumped up on my lap acting all friendly and, then, he lunged at my face growling as he sunk his teeth into my left cheek. He pulled at my skin like he was trying to tear a chunk out of me and I screamed, so he finally let go. It bled for over an hour in spite of the hydrogen peroxide and ice pack. Now I'm on antibiotics and the dog is in quarantine.

SeekingTrinity -> RE: August Roll Call (8/5/2013 9:11:14 PM)

Let's see...

My rabbit I adopted last month has fit beautifully into the herd of 2 cats, a Chihuahua, 2 parakeets, and my 55gal aquarium. I seriously love this little dude already.

My guy and I planned a coast getaway for the 16th-18th. Im super psyched and looking forward to it [:)]

Im applying for a job at the place I have volunteered at for the past 3 years. Im super psyched about this too. It's a great opportunity and will be a huge bonus for when I eventually go to grad school studying public health

katisaprincess -> RE: August Roll Call (8/5/2013 11:15:22 PM)

Sorry if this is a stupid question: what's a roll call and what is expected to be posted?

Search refuses to work on my cellphone.

MissJadeCrystal -> RE: August Roll Call (8/6/2013 12:38:01 PM)

This all looks so new to me and yet so cozy, everybody sharing their own thing.

I've decided to work out too once I'm done with my driving license final examinations tomorrow and... whenever the last one after that will be scheduled - I decided that because I might be able to get a job in the fitness-related areas once in college and I have to be capable of doing everything and being up to date with everything. My hands and head have been pretty full with preparations to leave for Denmark to college (damn I feel so young and newbie). I never quite needed any weight loss because well health is up to par and youth has a major say in that I guess.

Other than that the clock is ticking, I'm about to leave in 18 days to Denmark and I am having more and more anxiety with each passing day as I've been waiting for this for a long time. I have a long list of things I plan to do, to try out and to abuse.

As far as OP goes: good luck in court!
TNDOmmeK: Haunted Hotel sounds like a pretty fun idea! (Studying Hotel Management even!)
MistressDarkArt: You made me hungry... now my brain will bathe in sweetness delight because it's late at night and no sweets are in the house.
MsSylverdawn: Have a fine happy birthday!
LadyPact: Good luck with your own battles! :)
Miyani: Sounds awesome!
LaTigresse: Ouch, ouch and ouch! I really hope you'll get better soon.
NiceButMeanGirl: I'm sorry to hear about your cat. My Denis is 13 years old and still going by, blind as he may be. Good luck with your goals.
katisaprincess: I think everyone is just sharing a big update on their life currently. :)

Howdy Katisa! Roll calls are just folks of any orientation/gender checkin' in at the beginning of the month posting what's going on in their life. Feel free to join in!

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: August Roll Call (8/6/2013 3:55:45 PM)

I should have teeth by the end of the month. And, they'll look like the straight, well kept teeth of a 58 year old, not those of an 18 year old. Have you ever seen a person my age whose dentures are OBVIOUSLY dentures because they're too shiny white for a person this age?

The ONLY thing I miss about Louisiana is some of the food. And, Walmart carries boudain in some of its stores here.

ShaharThorne -> RE: August Roll Call (8/6/2013 4:01:21 PM)

I can't have any boudain...as much as I love it, my intestines don't.

I have to make due with turkey and cheddar sausages every few months.
