pahunkboy -> Nationwide NSA protests today (8/4/2013 10:36:17 AM)

I just got back from our local one. Pics wont load from the camera- the turn out was good- and the media was there.

A good day indeed.

The NSA got to them already? That's pretty efficient for a government agency.

Kind of funny- a few people are like- oh you are going to be arrested.

No.

Our protests are not like that. We are not intrusive to others- we dont shut things down. Things are pretty laid back. (no - no one brought a lunch)

I got one for you Stef- a gal showed up at the protest but did not want to be photographed- as she over stayed her visa. lol

Then you should hear this nut running for mayor- the more he talked the more he contradicted himself. Im thinking you should not be in charge of ANYTHING- let a alone a city.

PS- I dont actually have cell service- the phone is old just for pics- which at its performance today- is lacking.

Locally our protest was not about any one politician. We spoke on policy- not on who is to blame.

wittynamehere -> RE: Nationwide NSA protests today (8/4/2013 4:55:40 PM)

Right on. More focus needs to be on the Security Industrial Complex, and less on the people telling truth about it. The real story isn't Snowden, it's that we're increasingly being herded into a control grid society, and not slowly anymore.

Im discusted by some local comments.

We are "crazy", "what do you have to hide".

There is also various ideas as to what the protest was for. People are dense.

Esinn -> RE: Nationwide NSA protests today (8/5/2013 5:21:54 AM)

We have nothing to hide, yet everything to lose. If for no other reason we are approaching 17trillion in debt. It is simply unaffordable. My biggest issue is it is illegal. This is what I have discussed with my congress/senate. The fact hand picked judges who work for secret courts which are unapproachable by the public, operate on secret budgets with secret interpretations/translations of law and words. Courts which are beyond accountability and above the law. The fact those type of courts have said it is "ok" or "legal" is not so comforting. I think most people at some level can feel that.

Which brings up another great point. We know this spying is unconstitutional, regardless of what higher courts say. Because when the IXP Hijacking (StellarWind) and similar programs started. They were granted retroactive and almost immediate immunity. I am not sure of any other time such broad immunity was offered. They would have been correctly sued out of existence if not. But, I guess that might have had disasterous results for us customers then. But, it would have been fun, legal (necessary) and worth it.

Have you called, Hunky? Asked them directly about that? I mean you just get a customer service guy or girl initially. But, pending in what state you are in, most states it is legal to record the other without their permission.

It might be a fun thing to record and put on a blog/socialnet somewhere one day. I just have cell phones and never noticed it yet.

No- thats not my bill.

It looks like the local guys we are running for city council are being taken to court. Supposedly the names on the petition to be on the ballot is being disputed.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!
