Consider this: In over five million years of human evolution, only one organ has come to exist for the sole purpose of providing pleasure – the clitoris. It is not required for reproduction. do a better job the more I know about what I am dealing with.

I had been aware of Dr O'Connell's research and have posted
this link before.  Time To Rethink On The Clitoris

It is great to have extra background and even more information.
I will bookmark this and share it.  Thanks again.

Status: offline 		Actually there is a purpose to it. Having been through childbirth once, no woman would do it a second time without the lure of the pleasure involved in having sex. We'd adopt pets instead.

Status: offline 		You might be right there. My mom never had an orgasm in her life. She once asked me what it felt like and if sex was really supposed to be good. I have four siblings. We are all 4 yrs apart because it took her that long for her mind to dull the pain of childbirth.

Status: offline 		The way I heard it (from a series of Desmond Morris programmes, IIRC) was that for human females, pregnancy and childbirth were so uniquely onerous in the animal kingdom that they wouldn't do it unless there was major pleasure involved in the preliminaries. No other creature goes through such godawfully long nine months gestation, culminating in searing agony, all in order to pop out a brat.

Bum deal, IMO. Women ballsed up badly when, up there in the astral plane as spirits prior to joining this material plane, they chose to get reincarnated as human females.

A lot of Helen O'Connells work contradicts what's being said here, 'the clitoris only purpose is to give pleasure.'

O'connell discovered, through post mortem on the female sexual organs, that, just as men have different sized penises, women have different sized clitoris. She discovered some women to have such huge internal clitoris's that she named them Amazon women!
Because the clitoris is attached to both the urethra and the vagina and because the clitoral components include erectile bodies, the vagina, when stimulated sexually will become firm. This firmness allows a man to penetrate her more smoothly than would be possible if she wasn't turned on.

I think we should be looking more carefully at this; 'Dr. Foldès has been performing surgery on women who have suffered from clitoral mutilation, restoring pleasure to over 3,000 circumcised patients. He also gets passionate about the lack of study with regards to the clitoris'
O'Connels concerns go further. Because the clitoris is so big and because its much needed erectile tissue is needed to create orgasm and become firm and tight during penetrative sex, any operation done on a woman's sexual or reproduction organs could have an adverse affect. She goes on to say that many women have their inner clitoris cut through because uneducated surgeons still remain blindly unaware.

I think its fantastic that interest is at last being taken over something so important.

Status: offline 		There's an excellent novel by Federico Andahazi about the (male) doctor who did early research into the clitoris during the renaissance. Probably no more accurate than Sarah Dunnant's historical novels, but a fine read nonetheless.

Status: offline 		all female circumcision was thought up by insecure men who wanted to fuck anything that moved while making sure that his woman at home wouldn't cheat. after all why bother doing something that holds no pleasure for you with another man. it's the ultimate control of a woman.

no matter how much I love sex I can tell you that nothing on earth was going to make me forget the pain I went through having my son. it was hideous from start to getting the end result. what with breast feeding and no sleep even the first few months were enough to put me off having anymore....even if I had wanted any in the first place.

Status: offline 		Actually, female circumcision is generally thought up by the elderly women in the village. My sister has been directly involved in anti circumcision campaigns in certain parts of Africa. Most men don't actually like their bride to be circumcised but because it was so common 15-20 years ago, they just accept that their bride probably won't have a clitoris. The children who are circumcised are told (by the women folk) that what they actually have is dirty and they can't become a woman until its removed. Times are changing and women are now starting to understand that their men folk want entire women and not a woman who have been brutalised.

Status: offline 		older women usually think that way because men started it. although I guess it may differ between tribes and such as to why. i'm going from what I've seen in documentaries where the girls actually had no idea why it was done, and it was the elder women who stated that it way to stop women straying which was thought up by men. personally I don't see any woman actually looking at her own body and thinking it's such a great idea, and i'll get every other woman in my tribe to do the same. most of the bull shit things that women do in the name of religion are thought up by men.

times may be changing in some parts of the world, but from the programs I watched it certainly wasn't the women, older or otherwise, that wanted it done from the outset. these women thought this way because it's what men had originally told them.

I see no reason why you'd feel sorry for my son. he and I have a fantastic relationship. if you are under the impression from what I said above that I don't love him you are very wrong. my son is my life.

however, if you are also assuming that every woman is designed to want children, and then love them as soon as they are born then again you are very wrong. I was told I couldn't have children and was very happy with that news. my son just happened to come along and it was a now or never choice. everything about being pregnant for me was horrid. having him with no meds was painful beyond anything else i've known, suffering post natal depression when hurting with a screaming child is not a good combo. I grew to love him, it's not natural for every female. these days in my son's own words 'mum if we were any closer it would be wrong'

most of the people who post here regularly will know just how much my boy means to me, and how very proud I am of him.

don't misplace feeling on a snippet when you don't know the whole. it shows ignorance.
