For those following this, I finally got a word on what might be wrong with My stomach. The doctor today suggests that it might be ulcers that have been wreaking all the havoc and has prescribed something to clear them up. I forgot to ask him what would cause them but I suspect the extreme stress and anxiety might have something to do with it. It would make sense anyways.

SirKenin There is some new evidence that seems to indicate that stomach ulcers may be caused by a virus. Stress does cause many conditions though and can worsen any you have. I hope they get it all settled down for you soon....being sick is no picnic....I know all too well.

Ulcers? I think you should start going to new a new doctor. If it's taken him over a month plus, how long would it take him to find a tumor or a blood clot? As much pain and suffering you've gone through, the symtoms alone should have caused a well haste exploritory of your stomach and colon. But then again, you are in Canada where heart surgery, removal of brain tumors, and other life necessary procedures are scheduled 6 months to 2 years after they are needed.

There's lots of truth to the virus as culprit regarding some ulcers. I had one, and the doc gave me a pencillin-based antibiotic (bad move doc LOL), and some pepto bismol, and even though the allegeric reaction to the pencillin kept me from completing the treatment, it still worked so well that I didn't have any stomach trouble for several years. Give it a shot.

It's not a virus, it's a bacteria. It's called helicobactor pylori (H. pylori). Most bacterias are responsive to antibiotics and this one usually is, too. Check out this article: http://www.umm.edu/patiented/articles/what_causes_peptic_ulcers_000019_2.htm Stress could be what makes you more susceptible, but it is no longer believed to be a cause. If you have ulcers caused by h. pylori then the antibiotics should do the trick. If they don't work get ready for an endoscopic exam.

Arpig had ulcers, and he says that eating regularly is Very important. Skipping meals will only aggravate the problem.

Many stomach ulcers are caused by a bacteria, H. Pylori (shortened name). It's not yet understood how the H. Pylori is introduced into the system, but it thrives in the acidic atmosphere of the stomach. Treatment includes a antibiotic cocktail (two to three different antibiotics given simultaneously) and an acid reducing medication. Reducing the amount of acid in the stomach assists in killing and getting rid of the H. Pylori. I've been treated twice for it. Edited to add: Initially, a blood test can be used to test for H. Pylori. After treatment however, a breath test must be used.

Some went on about how there parents and grandparents are on 6 month waiting list for heart caths, kidney transplants, biopsy procedures, etc..... all because of the screwed up Free Health Care system that Canada offers. It just goes to show that nothing is for free. Strings are always attached.

:(... my mom almost died from 3 bleading ulsers she had that she never knew about... she needed 3 blood transfutions.... sad thing is they were all my foult.... and the truth is they arent sure what causes ulsers some of it is heredity a lot of it is stress wich causes something to happen with the acids in our stomach... what they will do to conferm it is make you swollow a lil camera.... I have a lot of info lieing around my house from my mom if you would like some of it as well as Im sure she still has a lot of the links to the web pages she used Ill ask her for them if you like da enigma

SirKenin.... Please take care... I remember when my dads ulcers got so bad (Gotta love the military)... his bled so bad he need blood tranfusions. (Again gotta love the military) .They screwed that up and he went from A pos to A neg during the tansfusion. But ulscers can get that bad.. So please take it easy...and get better soon. Jessica

It's genetically impossible to change your blood type. What may have happened is that your dad is probably A positive, but they may have been short on those units and gave him A Negative blood, which is acceptable in a pinch.

I have had problems with my stomach for years. I have had the scope done twice and just recently because of stomach pains I was getting daily. My Dr had me on nexium and didnt seem to help. Two weeks ago I hurt my neck and went to the chiropractor and he had a sign about cures for many things including ulcer and other stomach problems by eating PURE honey, so I bought a quart and I eat a tablespoon in the morning and in the evening. And my stomach feels GREAT!! My stomach hurt daily, and now its gone no pains nothing, that was 2 weeks ago and it also helps fatigue I feel more alert...This is what it said on a site that I went to about Pure Honey....
