STRANGE ISN'T IT

Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill
seems like such a large
amount when
you donate it to church, but
such a small amount
when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when
you're at church, and how
short they seem when you're
watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't
find ! a word to say when
you're praying,
but you have no trouble
thinking what to talk about
with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult
and boring it is to read
one chapter
of the Bible, but how easy
it is to read 100 pages of
a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

Isn't it strange how everyone
wants front-row-tickets
to concerts or
games, but they do whatever
is possible to sit at the last
row in Church?

Isn't it strange how we need to
know about an event for
Church 2-3
weeks before the day so we can
include it in our agenda, but we can
adjust it for other events in
the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it
is to learn a fact about God to share it
with others, but how easy
it is to learn, understand,
extend and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange how we
believe everything
that magazines and newspapers
say, but we question the words in the
Bible?

Isn't it strange how everyone
wants a place in
heaven, but they don't want
to believe, do, or say anything
to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send
jokes in e-mails
and they are forwarded
right away,
but when we are going to send
messages about God, we think
about it twice before we share
it with others?

IT'S STRANGE ISN'T IT?

Now that you've read this message,
forward it to anybody that you
consider a friend, family member or foe(enemy).
If you don't do it not only
you will deprive
yourself from being blessed,
but you will also do that
to others who may need
God in their life.

Good friends are like angels, you don't have to see them to know they are there.

Um, my conclusion is that you have a vocation. Command your submissive or slave to help you start a new, interesting and active church. And by all means do question everything and keep the good things and discard the bad things - or apply them in a beneficient way.

Bless you.

You kinda held my interest for the first 3 stanza's. I was thinking "yeah that is interesting" and I was thinking" Well it makes sense "Things we do for ourselves always seem more interesting and we can devote more time, money and energy to them"..
yeah that is a human faling etc"...."makes sense" etc etc etc....but then as it went on ....I was kinda groaning thinking things like " A bad attempt at trying to convert people".." I'd rather go to paris than be presented with a free  trip to guilt"...etc etc etc

No, y'know, I don't think it's strange at all.

I think that many many people are guilted into being religious. For those individuals who are religious because it's who they are and important to them, none of that is true. For those individuals, myself included, who came to religion because our parents made us, or because we felt we should, that seems like a fairly normal human reaction.

Everything is reletive to how you think it. I sit in front anywhere I go. I prefer a few days to make plans for anything.

But then again I believe in God and not Church, so you won't find me at a church or church function. I am spiritual and have been told by preachers and their wives I have more faith than they do, so why should I feel a need to broadcast my beliefs to everyone I meet?

dontcha love how those silly little religus emails can set off a whole bunch of  serios talk about god and faith and religon and what not.   I do find it odd that so many christians are like that. I am just thankfull that i dont have that issue I talk to the goddess quite often, I preform my rituals with no guilt involved and i enjoy the time.

Isn't if funny how a church that preaches; "Money is the Root of all Evil!" has a collection plate?

I find it odd that a church expected everyone attending to give $$

Anytime I listen to anyone that likes the sound of their own voice and thinks they know better how to talk to god I tend to get bored

I don't need words to pray and am quite often without around people.

I refuse to read the bible because I think its poluted and have not read a Zane Grey since before puberty.

I prefer back stage passes at concerts because I hate crowds and I despise churches.

Ahhhh, since I refuse to go to church I prolly don't need to know about church events. I like to know about social engagements in advance because I can be quite UNsociable........I need to prepare!

I tend to differ from most people on the definition of the word "god" and dislike gossip.....unless of course I cannot stand the person!!!

Magazines and newspapers are about as truthful as the bible but at least they are easier to read.

I don't believe in "going to heaven" or hell for that matter.........one should behave in that context ALL the time rather than for the ultimate payback.

I delete almost everything that has a FWD, many of them without even opening.

If you think that's bad, wait untill you see what they charge to have a Wedding Under God. It's almost as if churches have an agenda to discourage people getting married. Because of the high price tag, the church has encouraged us to continue living together in sin.

Well, actually, YES I HAVE!! I have been very fortunate in that, i have heard the stories in hebrew... aren't they beautiful, almost musical and magical.  And if you are fortunate to ever study the hebrew language, and learn a few words, even if it is limited, you, too would grow a greater appreciation.

I guess, that's kind of like saying " have you tried to hear them in spanish, or german, etc, etc... " Well sure, lots of people have.

Let me tell you though, hearing the "easter story" in Hebrew is truly a spiritual enlightenment... ( having knowing the whole Jewish/hebrew thing.. )

Anyhoo... careful with your borderline anti-semite remarks, girl.. You may be Jewish, i don't know.. however pointing out one "language" as being hard to understand as to make an example, tends to make one raise an eyebrow... i, happen to not be one of those " self loathing jews" and am quite proud of my heritage and the language that comes with it... as are most Germans, Mexicans, Spanish, Russians, blah blah blah that i know...

Nope, none of these thoughts seem strange to me at all. Infact they make perfect sense.

A) God loves everyone.  He tells us how to live our lives, and if we do so without fail, we will be rewarded by a better place.

B) Satan tells us to do whatever we want, be all we can be, be happy, and he will give us a place where the only real downside really is that we are away from God.

A) In highschool, there were always people who were part of the cool clique.  If you wore the right clothes, acted the right way, and did the right things, you would be rewarded with being a member of that group.

B) There were also the people who didn't care what you looked like, what you did, or how cool you were.  They just enjoyed your company for what it was.

Who did we all hang out with?  Who, in retrospect, was it actually more fun to spend time with?

Yours,

benji

My church married us for free and even tossed in a few decorations for the wedding.  The only cost we incured was $100 for my dress and the money for our wedding rings.  Oh, and the shoes.  I got new shoes to go with the dress.

Oh, yeah... (this is added as an after thought)  I think the quote is actually 'the love of money is the root of evil', meaning greed.  I agree that there are some churches that are very pushy about tithing, and I don't agree with that.  My church doesn't pass a plate.  There are boxes discreetly placed at various locations where someone is free to give if they wish, and if they do not, no one notices.  It's between the giver and God.

Nothing strange about it at all. Other than you seem to be dividing everything into religious/nonreligious.
Maybe being an aetheist, there is a wider variety of what is useless or important, time consuming or rewarding.

Personally. I find 20 dollars to be larger in the reward to myself and others, when donated to charity, than when spent on junk.

In the raw words of the post. I would agree, but the irony would not exist. Substitute something better than religion, and I would be totally opposite to it, but in a good way.

Goodness exists by itself. It needs no bribery of the afterlife. No rules in texts. No reward except itself. There is no narrow path to it.

I don't pass the collection plates, but there is a charge for direct intervention with the gods; the prices are somewhat nominal when one considers that, I'm exposing Myself to theirfierce gazes and possible wrath.
We do charge for previously worn undies from the Sisters, and for the wealthy there are soiled pantys available at the weekly auctions. Slickum Factors vary between the girls, and lucky bidders receive sperm-a-nated pantys, still damp, but slightly yellowed from the girls having the piss flocked out of them by the Deacons, Bishops, and Moi. All successful bidders must warrant that they'll not reassign the garments for resale until after they have licked the stains free from the crotch material. wefg

Yes.
If I couldn't have substituted just plain useful and useless, in the secular sense, I would not have bothered to reply.
