Pretty simple poll. I saw someone yesterday who said that since someone had a profile on CM for almost a decade that they must have experience.
We also see people looking and assuming a brand new profile must be by someone with no experience.

What percentage of all the profiles on CM do you think represent someone who has actually DONE this stuff?

ETA. between all the findommes, sock accounts, abandoned accounts, HNGs and 'tourists' My guess was 10%

Got between 20 and 30 years experience as a Switch...dominant at times, sub at other times. Right now I am submissive only to Mom but she is family. Last week, I had to be Dominant to 2 other dominant personalities when they started arguing (Lizard and Bo). I had to "crack the whip" to make them shut up.

If you could add a 1% or less than I can vote. I seriously doubt the percentage is as high as 10%.

I found this site by accident when I was horny. Frankly the fantasies of of many frighten me. I will not place myself in a bad situation.

x- sites are plenty- I stay because of the conversation.

You mean how people subscribe to Playboy because of the interesting article?

I'm going to assume the percentage is rather low, based on the number of messages I have received from married men looking for an online romance.
But, because I'm an optimist, I'm going to say 20%

i'd say less than 10%. having been on the other side to answer mail and seen how many repeat profiles there are, pathetic attempts to appear to be a different person, i'd doubt that many have true experience from the way they write.

the percentage of women is probably higher than guys, although the percentage of men to women is probably much higher on membership. i'm always amazed at how many teens claim to be experienced. it makes me chuckle.

I went with 20%. My estimate may be higher because I don't engage frequently on the other side. Also, I'm considering the difference between when I first got here vrs now. Before Fet, I knew a lot of folks who had a profile here but never came to the forums, yet they were active.

I get that I'm more successful than the average Joe when it comes to finding play partners. That's even with several strikes against Me. That makes it really difficult for Me to believe that anybody who is even slightly proactive wouldn't be able to find one over the course of ten years. If a person has that kind of failure rate, seriously, you're doing it wrong.

It also depends on what you define as experience. After all, having your wrists tied with a scarf one drunk night isn't the same as a relationship. And most relationships are short term.

So yeah, under 10%. Because there are a hell of a lot of posters who in all the years they've been here haven't gotten into a relationship. And if you haven't done anything in ten years, that's not much of a recommendation to engage with you.

Ah. Now I need clarification from the OP.

When he said "doing this stuff," I didn't take that to necessarily mean as having a dynamic. I took "doing stuff" as meaning engaging in BDSM, whether that is anything from meet and beat one night occasion to anything within a long term committed relationship.

Anything from having an actual 1 night meet and beat to a 40+ year TPE poly S&M relationship.

I got no answer in terms of the other side. I assume it's a fantasy land but I don't know.

My answer for posters on these boards would be substantively higher. But man, i still remember a poster we had who posted for an entire year about "her master this" and "my relationship is that..." only to find that all of it was her DESIRED master and relationship. She though would still have qualified since I'm pretty sure there was at least SOME experience in there somewhere.

You need a spot for "I have no fucking idea."

I presume some people lie outright. I presume some people exaggerate. I presume some people are telling the truth even though their experiences sound fantastical. There is simply no way to be sure.

Also, what constitutes experience? 99% of my experience has been with one woman. Much of it consists of playtime in the bed room with the occasional weekend or week long journey to the cabin in the woods. We don't do munches or go to dungeons... we just like getting together to play "Master and slave" now and then. Some people would say we are hardly experienced at all... but so what?

Since I didn't know what to click on your poll... just to fuck with it, I clicked %100.

I went with 20% instead of 10% only because I'm an optimist too!

Although an excellent idea for a poll, as others have pointed out, you would have to set clearly defined parameters to have any hope of obtaining relevant data.

You did state that length of experience would be defined as 1 day to infinity.

And type of experience is being defined as any and all activities that fall under the "commonly accepted activities" within BDSM?

Not sharpshooting, but simply pointing out, that sense the majority of what is discussed here involves consensual manipulation of a person's environment or state of mind in order to achieve a heightened sexual or emotional response, which can generally be categorized into broad classifications, however the triggers and degree of intensity differs so greatly between individuals that it becomes difficult to say what is deemed as an acceptable form of BDSM.

I went with 20%.
