A metro-sexual is a confident man, he has no problem having his nails buffed out and also has no problem being manly. This definition says they're on the brink of homosexual. I think that brink is only in the fact that they're going to a hairstylest vs a barber, or being able to buy designer clothes. I think the whole thing of being a meterosexual is that they are striaght, they are not gay, they are not bi. They just like the finer things in life as many gay and bi men do.
They can be just as comfortable rock-climbing, spelunking, hiking, getting their hands dirty as they are at a broadway show. They are comfortable in their own skins.
I think the difference between them and the gentlemen of old is, they're more into being able to do housework and think nothing of it, or cooking a great meal for their partner or date, they have no problem sharing in responsibilites that an gentleman of yesteryear would consider womens work.

Yes I think they are very desirable partners, and that much easier to feminize, lol.
All kidding aside:  I like my guy relatively well dressed, but if he is competing with me for a manicure, pedicure, shopping and mirror time, we will have a problem...  So, would a metrosexual be a desirable sub for me?  Only if he'll submit to being more masculine.   M

I love this definition.  Yes, this type is exactly the kind of man I want to spend time with and submit to.

Someone musta slipped the word "metrosexual" into the general street vocabulary while I was napping, because lately it's all I hear, and back before I took that nap, it wasn't yet a word.  I STILL don't know exactly what the hell "metrosexual" refers to, even though I've read and heard several definitions.  I know that Tom Brady (the quarterback of the New England Patriots), for example, is supposed to be a metrosexual, but it's hard for me to understand exactly why a successful male athlete with a beautiful girlfriend (or is she his wife now?) and no evident sexual attraction to men should be considered anything other than an old-fashioned HETEROsexual.  Because he gets expensive haircuts and uses skin-care products?  I mean, I don't get expensive haircuts even though I could afford them, but hell, if a man enjoys it and has the money, I don't see what it has to do with his sexuality.

or sexual preference or gender identity?

I have to agree with erin about the getting dirty thing and being all up into things

The term metro-sexual doesn't have to do with his sexuality, other than the fact that he is straight.
In the past, it's usually been women and gay men who're the ones that are into getting facials and cooking, sewing, cleaning, things that were considered a female thing. This new word just saying that there are men who can want and enjoy these things, yet be strictly straight.
