I actually liked the original one better, as I usually do with film remakes. Except for a few, they are usually better.

Wow! I have my work cut out for me. Some of the suggestions I have already seen, but others I never heard of so they go on my list. Just to clear something up, I enjoy all horror, not splatter films because they tend toward the absurd, but a decent dose of gore never hurts. Psychological horror is one that I love because if you have my brain, the rest comes along for the ride. I am not opposed to Science Fiction either, I love all kinds of different stuff, thus 1500 DVDs in my modest collection. Only ones I stay away from are chick flicks and tear jerkers, all others are fair game. Keep them coming... and thank you for taking the time to make suggestions for me!

Now watch while Kana comes on and decides to get a few items on LW... I love foreign horror movies but I seldom get to watch any (unless Netflix carries them). It has to tease my mind, no blood and gore needed. I actually got Mom to watch Love, Actually because I love how Alan Rickman was an asshole on it. I always cry when the Christmas pageant is playing (love the song). If we get free previews of any movie channels, I watch them. Can't convince Mom to get Starz so I can watch The White Queen (medieval freak here). I think I did see Brotherhood of the Wolf YEARS ago. Maybe need to check out the queue on Netflix again...

Dead Ringers is the one movie I have ever walked out of a theater on. It's not really a horror movie, I don't know what to classify it as, but Closetland was very interesting to me. One other suggestion - The Cube (I think it's called) with Jennifer Lopez. Odd but interesting.

Ooooh. I love Donnie Darko. My favorite movies are ones that play with your mind. I really liked the Butterfly Effect as well. Two movies that scarred me for life: Creepshow 2: The Raft - I'm always leery when I see a blob of seaweed roaming about in the middle of the lake. When a Stranger Calls Back (I believe that's the right one) - I was young when I first watched it but I never looked at walls the same.

I found this list on IMDB: The 100 Best Psychological Thriller Movies I don't agree with some (Paranormal Activity mostly comes to mind) but does include two of my all-time favorites, Se7en and The Silence of the Lambs. Also included is a movie I'm hesitant to admit I really enjoyed, The Cell. There are some other movies I've never heard of. It appears I have some major catching up to do. I'd be interested to know just how many thrillers in the past decade are remakes.

If you walked out of Dead Ringers, don't even think about watching either of these two... Tetsuo and Tetsuo Two (Body Hammer), are raving mad. Imagine Ichii The Killer, if it had been scripted by Phillip K Dick on crack. These films have everything (except much of a plot in the first one): scrap metal Akira style mutations (a great mix live action and stop motion), casual slaughter, misogyny (one scene involves a woman being screwed to death with a penis that's turned into a drill), strange conspiracies, you name it. Strange flicks, but not much like anything else, particularly as both were made in the early '90s. Another horror film everybody should see is the wonderful short of The Call Of Cthulhu a HPL fan society made. it's done as the film they'd have made of the story in the year it was written, so it's a black and white silent film, with stop motion monsters and awesome cod expressionist sets. Wonderful fun, particularly if you know your Lovecraft.

Straight to Hell, A story of blood, money, guns, coffee, and sexual tension. It's billed as an "action-comedy", but only loosely fits those. Watch it. You'll either love it on a Rocky Horror level, or you'll hate it and everyone associated with it.

OK, just got done watching VHS and I thought that the movie was pretty decent. Had some nice elements of horror and definitely a dip into the bizarre here and there. Great concept to it, smaller stories can be nearly twice as effective as one long one. Of course the smaller stories concept has been done before, but not quite this way which was not without its intrigue. A few times I found myself looking at the time which is never a good sign with a movie because that means I feel like it is dragging, but if it did drag a little it quickly made up for lost time. I also love that there was no one famous in it, sometimes unknowns are better because they are everyday people and can pull off that feel much better than someone famous who you have seen in 20 different movies. I normally rate movies on two elements, one is the basic movie overall, and the second is the entertainment value. I have seen some OK movies that have been highly entertaining. I have also seen some well acted clunkers that bored me to tears. So that is my rating system. Overall score: 7/10 Entertainment value: 8/10 I would watch this again. Thanks for the suggestion. On to my next movie. Keep them coming!

After a years long binge in my youth, and a number of years working in the blood and guts makeup of mass casualty simulations and halloween, I really don't watch horror movies anymore. I did think that The Blair Witch Project was a nice bit of creepy work. Just for movies for the guy who has seen all of them though, there is a fun little one (not horror in any way) called The Wizard of Speed and Time. It's a passionate kiss goodbye to the old stop motion method of special effects, before CGI took over the craft. It's on Youtube, but I cannot imagine that video quality would let anyone appreciate just what it took to make that film. Off Topic a bit: Just saw The Evil Dead. Good movie, i liked the scene where the chick is giggling and the other where the tree stump attacks the lady but made it look as if she was being raped in the woods XD
