Hello and welcome to the forums, the discussion side of the site. I am afraid you will meet people from all over this beautiful world of ours here on the forums. If you want just people from where you are the other side can be set to find people local to you. Also though not every ones cup of tea, see maybe about joining munches in your area. TieMeInKnots normal will be along and lives in the Md area and can tell you which munches are good ones.
