txironhead -> Nipple clamps and other small items? (8/24/2013 4:37:09 PM)

I'm looking for the best price on Japanese "clover" nipple clamps, as well as other small items commonly needed in play, such as carabiners, common-key locks, handcuffs, etc. The clover clamps in particular seem to have jumped in price lately.

eh, you'd have to be specific about what you mean in price jump. I haven't needed to buy that stuff in quite a while, but a cursory check on pricing still finds em at around $19 dollars for clover clamps, unless of course you check Stockroom. But they have always been rather moody with their prices

Why not just buy clover clamps at the sewing store? If you want to chain them together, you'd have to do it yourself, but clover clamps (in the vanilla world) are a tool used to hold fabric.

Or, you can buy them (less expensively) with the chain already attached here.

I have never been able to find them in any local fabric shops. I read online that they were originally designed by Japanese fishermen as a device to hold sails. Never seen them called a hem clip bird. The set on Amazon is about the price I was looking for, thanks blushes! This is one of those things that I think was uniformly cheaper before it became so popular with the bdsm crowd.

You're welcome, and yes, I agree. Once something is known as a "sexual device" the price will often jump. :)

Ahh, that explains why rope and chain had doubled in price in my local hardware store

;-)

It is interesting to see how prices change on the exact same item between Home Depot, Lowes, Tractor Supply and the small, local-owned stores. I've learned to shop around. We have a hardware store that used to be the main dry goods store when the town was first founded, and I swear they still have some of the original stock. I find stuff there I've never seen before. Plus, wandering around on the original creaky plank wood floor is just cool.
