The dual cartridge ultra view has a bit better airflow in negative pressure mode but is less versatile than the single cartridge model. The dual cartridge "chipmunk cheeks" mask has less of a front profile which is desirable if you are wearing one with a welding hood though. The single cartridge model can have the adapter installed to use as a PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator), mask for SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Aparatus), or as a mask for airline use. So, if you are in a biz where you need class A, B, and C hazmat garb, you can stock only one set of masks for your personnel for any class of protective gear. There are other manufacturers that can provide the same type of gear but my preference for Mine Safety Appliance equipment has to do with fit, ease of maintenance, and availability of parts. Also, the spectacle kit for MSA masks works better than any other I have experienced for putting your eyeglass prescription into the mask. The current military NBC warfare mask includes Mil-Spec features to aid in firing weapon. When I was active duty, I must confessed I twigged at having protective gear purchased by low bid contract by multiple manufacturers. Often replacement parts were slightly different between manufacturers and didn't quite fit correctly.
