Neil Armstrong has died. Rest in peace.

MasterCaneman -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 6:34:49 AM)

He died a couple of months ago, man.

jlf1961 -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 6:36:31 AM)

According to ABC news he just died, he had surgery a couple of weeks ago.

Note the year, my friend. It was over a year ago now. They were just using it for a 'milestone' filler story.

punisher440 -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 6:40:25 AM)

I was just going to point out he died on August 25th of 2012...last year Jeff.....ooop's

Marc2b -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 6:44:28 AM)

Yeah... it's currently 2013.

If it's any consolation to you, I've forgotten the year myself upon occasion.

Most recently was a few days ago when eating some pineapple and I noticed the expatriation date was May of 2014. I had a few moments of AHHH!!!! I'M GONNA DIE!!!! I'M GONNA SUE THAT STORE!!!! Before I remembered that 2014 was still a few months away.

On the plus side it was kind of cool to realize that I was a year younger than I thought I was.

garyFLR -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 6:48:25 AM)

How quickly a year goes.

DaddySatyr -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 6:51:29 AM)

There's a few people, where if I remember that they are dead, it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. I'm not saying Neil's one of them but there are examples. Maybe the OP was just "enjoying some tender memories"?

ShaharThorne -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 7:29:31 AM)

I hate when when the media do these fillers...how about something more newsworthy like the sex trafficking or the bust up of a local gang?

Yes, me too. My biggest peeve of all is for a week, or more, following someone's death not only do we have to hear about it, but also hear interviews from other people regarding the death.
Day 1- so and so died
Day 2- how so and so feels about the death of so and so
Day 3- they believe so and so died from this or that, more to follow
Day 4- how so and so feels about so and so dying from possibly this or that
Day 5- recap of the past four days
Day 6- it has been confirmed that so and so died from this
Day 7- how so and so feels about it being confirmed that so and so died from this

Then, a year later, a recap.

I'm all for the original reporting, but to drag it out seems a bit ridiculous.
Does anybody find it newsworthy to hear what celebrities think about the deceased and/or the passing of?

Time travel is real! Where you going to die before or after you sued?

jlf1961 -> RE: RIP Neil (8/27/2013 10:48:28 AM)

Considering the issues I have been dealing with for the last year, I am not surprised I missed it, as did the individual who posted it on facebook.

ShaharThorne -> RE: RIP Neil (8/28/2013 6:21:32 AM)

I told the guy off on FB for posting it. Told him it was like provoking a ghost...you're in for some strange shit.

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: RIP Neil (8/28/2013 2:36:13 PM)

He died the same week Lance Armstrong was banned and had his Tour de France titles stripped. It was a bad week for the Armstrongs.

Yet another reason I don't do Facebook.

mnottertail -> RE: RIP Neil (8/28/2013 2:50:50 PM)

Holy Fuck!!!! Is this guy STILL dead????

PeonForHer -> RE: RIP Neil (8/28/2013 5:22:43 PM)

I shall miss his music and that growly-voiced singing, recognisable in an instant. :-(

A few years back, writing Christmas checks for my nieces and nephews, I was struck by how 12-12-05 had a lovely ring to it.

Then it hit me: It was 2008.

Can't even blame that one on chemo brain, alas.
