quasimdm -> Spotting fake profiles... (8/27/2013 2:34:53 PM)

not sure if this is a repost, or not necessary, but I do it every post, so I thought maybe others might need it. Forgive me if it's not needed or in the wrong place.

when you see a profile with a picture, open a new browser tab and go to 'images.google.com' (without quotes) and then click and drag (works in netscape) the picture from collarme to the new tab and put it in the upload picture part of google images. that will search the picture and in 99% of the cases where the picture looks too professional, it will find the real person and expose the scammer / fraud / idiot posting fake pictures.

If everyone does this and then reports the users who post fake pictures, maybe we can turn CM back into a nice place to hang out and not a hive of scum and villany....

just my $.02 anyway.

Thanks.

Yeah, if you are running chrome you can just go add it in and when you hover over the right lower corner the camera icon appears, and you can use google image, tineye or both and it opens in new tab so you dont lose your old spot.

But if the picture looks profiessional, it is professional.

contact me on my cell (text only) or yahoo so we can talk more better, wastes less pixels, we can talk more better right the fuck here.

And it is around the millionth repost on this site, fyi.

If you think the material you posted here hasn't already been posted 109,749,493,701 times already, then you must not visit these forums very often.

Fakes. Yep. Please give it a rest.

tazzygirl -> RE: Spotting fake profiles... (8/27/2013 3:03:46 PM)

You do realize there are sites out there which dont come up in photo searches. I wont say what ones.

There are also many beautiful women on this site with professional photos done of them. Those photos can be located on private blogs, professional sites (dommes mostly), sites like deviant art and photographers sites.

Just because you see a photo on a web search doesnt necessarily mean they are fake, even the professionally done ones.

LadyPact -> RE: Spotting fake profiles... (8/27/2013 3:29:17 PM)

While I would agree that the advice of checking a profile pic against google images/tineye/whatever is good on a personal level, as far as I know, that isn't the criteria to report another person's pictures as far as the site is concerned. Since you as another member here don't own the copyright to the image you are reporting, you don't have a claim that the other member can't post it.

I could be wrong about this and if a Mod comes along to correct the above, I'll be happy to hear it. However, to the best of My knowledge, the only reporting for stolen photos has to meet a certain criteria, and if it's not yours, you won't fit the parameters.

DarkSteven -> RE: Spotting fake profiles... (8/27/2013 5:31:10 PM)

I can usually spot a fake pic right away. Even if I can't, the profile text gives it away.

littlewonder -> RE: Spotting fake profiles... (8/27/2013 7:06:53 PM)

eeerr....CM has ALWAYS been this way. Seriously....always....from day one. I've been around this place since the first day it opened its doors under one guise or another. I've yet to see how it has changed.

And the stuff you wrote....old, old, old news.

Correct; here is the procedure for reporting stolen photos: http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=4532237

...You cannot report photos on behalf of another person. Please direct the person you are concerned about to this page.

Thank you very much for the input. Since the REAPs and ANTI-REAPs have gotten so much press on another site, I've made an additional effort in having folks sign releases in regard to posting certain shots. Basically, I've been confirming permission of the other party to show the work, etc. I hope I am on the right track with this.

I have a couple of times seen pictures of people I know on profiles that obviously weren't theirs. I let my friends know about them.

To the OP: If I'd wanted to work on the bunco squad, I'd have become a cop. Since I rarely even look at profiles, other than of those who post in the forums, why would I want to go to that effort?

cloudboy -> RE: Spotting fake profiles... (8/28/2013 3:12:07 PM)

This was all new to me, but I like fake profiles. To me the internet is at least 70% assuming another identity. Rather than use the Google photo-upload method, I like to use the F2F protocol, sitting down mono-a-mono. The last person I met off CM was Luckyalbatross at a Mexican restaurant. It was very memorable, but then she packed up and moved to TX and shortly thereafter abandoned the CMMB altogether.

But back to fake profiles, I support'em 100%. The internet wouldn't be the same without'em.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: Spotting fake profiles... (8/28/2013 4:29:25 PM)

You are funny. That is a take on fake profiles I've never read before! They don't bother me either, but that is because I'm not a man wading through a pea soup of them trying to find The One [:)]

I'm not in the habit of agreeing with cloudboy, but for a change, I kind of agree with this. Although sitting down mono-a-mono, is a good way to wind up with a case of mono.

playfulotter -> RE: Spotting fake profiles... (8/31/2013 5:27:00 PM)

A couple of years ago I "Tineyed" a pic of a person who wrote to me and it turned out to belong to a man who was a professor at a college. He lived in New York City and was not the person who wrote me....I saw his email address on one of the links from TinEye and let him know someone was using his pic. He wrote me back, thanked me and offered to send me his book he wrote but I wasn't interested in it or giving a stranger my address....He reported the fraud to collarme and they took the profile off the site.
