*In 2011, 96% of all secretaries and administrative assistants were women. *The new study, which tracked data through 2011, finds that men now make up 9.6 percent of all employed nurses in the United States - about 330,000 men in total. *Accounting Myth #3: Accounting is for Men only. In every company where I have been employed or worked with, the ratio of women to men is either 50% or higher in the women’s favor. As a matter of fact, most are dominated by women *While there are no statistics indicating the exact percentage of males in elementary schools, we do know that when elementary and middle schools are combined, men account for roughly 17 percent of the teaching force. Why arent men pushing into these fields? For the same damn reason women arent pushing into the fields you are complaining about. Because they dont want too. But why should a woman be barred from construction work simply because she is a woman? She shouldnt. Neither should a man be barred from nursing, even though the percentages of employment for the opposite sex are almost identical. Not everyone os cut out to be a nurse, nor a construction worker. Ya know what would really be helpful? If we stopped looking at the sex of people and start looking at the ability of people. Until that happens on a grand scale, affirmative action isnt going anywhere.
