ORIGINAL: tj444 There are (online) businesses that you cant deal with unless you are on FB.. not only has Zuckerberg brainwashed 150 million people, but he has started to brainwash businesses too now.. Its so stupid.. like having a FB page makes you legit and a few friends (who you can easily get by asking anyone to friend you).. "prove" you are "real".. I had a fb page a long, long time ago to see what it was all about, it was all fake.. I had "friends" I had never met.. but yet, that made the fake me "real".. [:D] Uh... Carol has gotten good results from her interactions with facebook (as a portrait artist). When you're small fry advertising budgets are hard to come by and FB makes a nice way for friends to do "word of mouth" advertising. I have never done any sort of promotion on her business facebook page in order to encourage people to like it. I want the people who have 'liked" her page to actually like her art not just click a button in hopes of winning a prize. My hope is that by keeping her business friends "pure" then the word of mouth advertising and network effect should actually work. I use facebook to communicate with friends and there's nothing fake about it. The difference between my experience and yours is that my facebook friends list are all actually my friends. They are all actually interested in the life updates, photos and whatnot that I post there.... as I am in their stuff. Much like online anything, it's only fake if you make it fake. edited to add: To the original question, this has nothing to do with the NSA who already has or has access to all those photos whenever they want and already has facial recognition software of their own (which is likely quite a bit better than anyone else's IMO). I can't figure out what value the NSA would have by driving this. I'm the same way... all of my FB friends are people I've met, friends and family. As well I have FB pages for our businesses and it is a great way to get the word out about products or services. With that said, im very careful about what I post when it comes to anything personal. My husband has several thousand "friends" mainly due to his interests. In all fairness, we've met and then met in real life several folks who turned out to be uber cool. As with most online sites, I do not think that is typical...
