Secretary was good? UGH. Top 10 of worst movies ever for me.

I liked it. I have a feeling 50 shades will be slick, exquisitely produced and........shitty

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (9/4/2013 11:12:41 PM)

I liked Secretary ok. But I didn't like how either of them were dysfunctional, and so is the Dom in 50 shades, apparently.

Not anymore.... apparently Charlie Hunnam's schedule is too busy and will be replaced.

Wow, that sound fun. Does it involve a giant tongue?

kalikshama -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/12/2013 3:11:00 PM)

I wonder if that has anything to do with:

A petition surrounding the casting also surfaced shortly after Hunnam was revealed to take on the mysterious billionaire. Fans quickly demanded through an online petition that he be replaced by actor Matt Bomer.

Bomer's got the look I was picturing:

Me too; some people object to him because he is gay.
That isn't any kind of issue for me.

Some people object because he is "too pretty".
That isn't an issue for me either.

Maybe he finally got around to reading the book!

frazzle -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/12/2013 3:36:20 PM)

Its a Mills and Boon, with a twist. It never claimed to be BDSM. I don't want to see it as a film the whole point is that its in your own head. And what a 20 year old see's Him as and what a 45 year old sees Him as don't match.

NoBimbosAllowed -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/12/2013 9:08:13 PM)

50 Shades is to Kink what battlefield Earth was to sci fi.

then again it's written by a twi-hard.

xxblushesxx -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/14/2013 9:13:04 PM)

I'd still like to see Alexander Skaarsgard as the lead. [;)]

PyrotheClown -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/15/2013 4:59:00 AM)

I wonder if all this fuss was present when they made the story of O...or what ever next kink film made with funding

MasterCaneman -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/15/2013 9:37:50 AM)

Jon Lovitz. Why not?

stef -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/15/2013 10:04:57 AM)

Gilbert Gottfried could do it. He's probably looking for work after losing his Aflac gig.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/15/2013 10:39:01 AM)

How about Pee Wee Herman? I believe he has some time on his hands...

fucktoyprincess -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/15/2013 5:46:05 PM)

FR

I looked up how Christian Grey is described in the book:

Christian is tall, slim yet muscular, and broad-shouldered, with dark copper-colored hair and "smoldering" gray eyes. As quoted by Anastasia, "He is not merely good looking - he is the epitome of male beauty, breathtaking."

"Male beauty" - seems to me that Matt Bomer (or someone who looks like him - there are many) is the right choice from a visual point of view. I don't know anything about his acting, though. Is he strong enough to carry off a role as a Dominant without seeming laughable? Those of you who know his acting work will have a better sense. I just he feel he doesn't have the acting chops or enough of a dark edge to him. But I've never seen a performance of his, so I admit this is just coming from, well, nowhere.

Without the description from the book, I would have thought someone more like Michael Fassbender - who definitely has the acting chops (anyone see Shame?) But he is very masculine looking, and the book seems to call for a more effete look.

So more along the lines of Carrot Top then. Gotcha.

I hope that image haunts your dreams [sm=insane.gif]

You want dream-haunting? Michael Richards. There's your Mr. Grey...

frazzle -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/15/2013 8:06:36 PM)

Has anyone actually read the books!!!

Didn't think so...

At no point did she say she was sub, at no point did he claim to be "bdsm" Dom.

If it makes you uncomfortable, that's your issue.

NoBimbosAllowed -> RE: Mr. Grey has been chosen (10/15/2013 9:05:24 PM)

The fact she fanficced Twilight then changed it to a kink book because she couldn't sell a Twi hard fantasy book in the vein of "Kirk assfucks Uhura" is the issue.

One doesn't need the BDSM label for it to have BDSM overtones.
It wouldn't need to word kink in it either to come across as kinky to some people.
