splatterpunk -> have you ever been internet stalked? this is a safe space to share your stories. (9/3/2013 6:04:46 PM)

splatterpunk has been internet stalked thrice.

once was by a vengeful ex, who still makes me somewhat nervous.

twice it was by crazy people. one of the two crazy people was harmless while the other, i fear, had there not been an ocean between us, might have done real harm to me (and to herself).

internet stalking...it's a bummer!

Not really. I had a guy that used the SoCalSubFem chatroom to find out if I was going to certain events and then he would show up. I had someone that attempted to stalk me on AOL, but I didn't cooperate.

But, since the big guy and I became a couple in 2001, most people have had the good sense not to anger a man whose job was to hurt people.

Honestly, though, our relationship pre-dates most BDSM sites, so it really didn't effect me.

in a sense, you're lucky. being subjected to the creepy mating habits of the timorous beta male has to be irritating as fuck; and that type can be driven off by a powerful partner. the pathology of a true stalker, though, is unlikely to be phased even by big scary dudes.

did the creepazoid who kept showing up at events where you were ever make an effort to woo you? did you feel like you needed a shower afterward?

i guess that's in the eye of the beholder. in my case...uh this makes the most sense to keep the two serious cases separate.

so first, the woman who i-stalked me after we broke up: contacted visible friends on social networking sites, threatened to send dirty emails (i write a hell of a dirty email, everybody says so) to my employer, threats to put compromising videos on youtube, etc. essentially social networking terrorism.

the woman whom i never actually met, and this was in the late 90s so it was a different world: would email me up to 15 times a day. would threaten to kill herself if i didn't email her back. got my real name from a mutual acquaintance (remember kids, always play it safe in yahoo chat rooms!) and got my phone number and would phone at all hours from holland.

added fact: the second woman is a semi-famous (last i heard she'd had some big regional shows) artist in europe.

Yup. Stalked for years. Still am to some extent.
Luckily for me he was fucking hot and a pretty decent guy too.

Yes. Due to that problem, I changed some of My net habits. I became more ambiguous about what events I would be going to, what kinds of play I would be doing at home, and we switched from announcing parties here at the house until after the fact. We had to block on multiple sites, personal email, and phone contacts. Some of our friends had to do the same. The local groups banned the person on the other site and that person can't attend the events sponsored by them.

Yup. Stalked online twice. One went to jail because he worked for my internet company at the time and was getting personal info on me. Second one by an ex Dom that I had played with a few times. I just put him on ignore and he eventually disappeared. No big deal. I'm sure there are others who are possibly stalk me but I don't pay attention so I wouldn't have a clue these days.

I've also been stalked a couple of times in real life. I scared one off by actually approaching his car one day and giving him a few threats that he could take seriously because of where I worked at the time. He never showed his face around my home again. Another by a game who was a fuckbuddy for awhile but who decided he wanted me all for himself. Took a bit of work to shake him off. It's good to know big, tough, military men. [:D]

But all in all, none of them scared me or bothered me all that much except the one who worked for my internet company just because he was so creepy with knowing info about me that others wouldn't know online at that time when the net was just beginning.

Usually delete, block works more than fine enough.

As for this being a safe place.....seriously???? hahahahahaha

You do realize you're on the world wide web right????

Real time stalking (non-bdsm related) and pulled a gun on me, yes.

Internet stalking, no

Yep, was stalked on AOL back in the pay per hour days. After he mentioned a few people at my place of employment I stalked him back. When I mentioned his mom lived in ____ in a chat room he demanded I cease stalking him and dumped his aol account.

The other time I ws stalked online was with te X. He knew a boatload of stuff I had written and used it to get into my head.

tommonymous -> RE: have you ever been internet stalked? this is a safe space to share your stories. (9/3/2013 8:49:52 PM)

I imagine it's a shitty thing to be on the receiving end of that kind of attention.

But I just keep thinking how it seems like so much work to stalk someone...

ThatsMaamToYouTo -> RE: have you ever been internet stalked? this is a safe space to share your stories. (9/3/2013 9:04:48 PM)

After I sent my exhusband back to his mama in Washington, he started posting my pertinent information different places online, and specifically in the chat program where we met. Phone number, DOB, my parents names and phone number - real dick move. In a funny coincidence, the admin/owner of one of the rooms he had posted my info in, private messaged me. Turns out, she was an attorney, and after the bullshit she saw him pull in the room (which got him banned), she offered to handle my divorce....for free. She got me in contact with a local police sergeant who told me numbnuts could be prosecuted for violating the Protection from Abuse order I had against him electronically, and wouldn't even have to be there. However, douchenozzle's attorney had me subpoena'd, to which I told him "Not a chance in hell am I going to Washington on my own dime." Cram it up your cramhole, Lefleur. I wasn't going. Drop the whole damn thing. He continues to violate the PFA until it expires.

That was in 2008. Fast forward to April 2013. I receive a letter from the Everett City Prosecutor's office, stating that I've now got a one year protective order, expiring in April 2014. Apparently, the case against fuckface was never closed, and when he rolled into town earlier this year, they were able to serve him with the papers. Turns out, he was tried in absentia. Who knew?

LOL you would think, huh?
When the aol guy stalked me I did a few hours of research on how people get info on other people online. His mistake was stalking a researcher. I had data on him within 72 hrs.

I was stalked by a potential dom that I did spend some real time with. Our relationship never really gelled, and he couldn't get the fact we were over.

It's why I quit DJing, he would show up in with another nick and attempt to engage me.

Sure block and hide work, but if you are a DJ online, you are supposed to be present at a certain time, and it's expected you interact with the group. I changed my nick, but he knew my voice.

I would think I had gotten rid of him and then months or years later he would resurface. (Lately I've been checking the who's been viewing me, since it's hard to believe he's given up.)

This man knew enough about me to stalk me everywhere, even my online games accounts.

It's easy to brush off and say no big deal when you've never been stalked by someone very persistent who knows you and knows how to get through your defenses.

MasterCaneman -> RE: have you ever been internet stalked? this is a safe space to share your stories. (9/4/2013 7:26:25 AM)

It was the reason I quit being a moderator on a firearms-related board I belonged to. A little backstory: the MB was part of a package included when a certain dealer got a webpage (he owned a gunshop and sold antique firearms/parts/ accessories). When I was talked into modding after a nasty exchange on a thread, I gave the mod group my personal info. Fast forward a couple months and I had to regulate on the son of another gun dealer.

The guy was your typical ITG and hyper-conservative nutjob. He worked with his dad (who was diamterically opposite his son), an arrogant opionated asshole who absolutely savaged a new poster for making a newbie mistake on the board. I went through the steps, he didn't modify his behavior, and down came the ban hammer. Junior went berserk. My mistake was in that I had done some real-world business with his dad, so he had my personal info as a matter of course. First, he showed up on my school e-mail, then he started calling my job and the school.

That I could deal with. I went to the cops, and they basically told me their hands were tied until he actually did something. Look at my picture and I imagine they figured I could handle it myself. Then Junior ratcheted it up after the owner and the other mods refused to allow him back on because he was basically an ignorant asshat. He showed up at my job and school. But when he went to my Mom's house and tried to get in, I drew the line.

Now understand, this guy lived over a hundred miles away from me, and at least two-three times a week he somehow found his chubby self in my area. I waited until his dad posted he'd be at a gun show and that's when I made my move. I printed out the entirety of the situation, went to a detective who didn't find it laughable a big tough guy like me could be stalked and told him Junior would be in the area on such and such a day.

I borrowed a game camera from one of my bosses and set it up outside my mom's apartment (I'd moved back home for awhile because of that asshole). It was the kind that took the day/date when something came within a certain distance. Sure as shit, Junior shows up at my house at four-thirty in the morning and puts another note on my car threatening me. I get up a couple hours later, pull the card, and go to the station. It's a Saturday, so of course they couldn't do anything about it, but it ended up on the detective's desk and they filed a complaint (finally, after almost a month).

I go to the gun show and confront Junior. Now remember, I'm a big mean SOB who also happens to have permit, so I hate to say it, I was hoping he'd man up and do something stupid. I tell him and his dad that the games stop now, Junior stays the fuck away from me and especially my mom, otherwise it will become very serious. Of course fat-ass blubbers he's innocent and that I was the problem for banning him. I told him then and there, if he has a beef with me, the parking lot is that way and we can settle this once and for all. I also brought along a friend who was taking pictures with his cellphone all through this. This'll be important later.

Since Junior was nothing but an ITG (Internet Tough Guy), he backs down, even though he has a loaded .45 on his hip (they sold modern military-pattern rifles, ammo, and gear-it's allowed at shows). Problem is, Junior doesn't have a NYS permit to possess a handgun and I knew it. I went to the local PD with my buddy's cellphone pics and told them. They call over the the guys working the show and ask them to card Junior because he's packing, and hey presto! no permit. Junior gets busted right then and there. And when they do a warrant search, they discover the complaint I filed with my local PD.

Long story short (sorry), Junior spends the rest of the weekend in jail, Monday morning the detective gets the SD card and goes to the judge, he gets another charge laid on him, and his pending pistol permit application gets yanked. And he will never be legally allowed to possess a handgun in not only NYS, but in the entire US. It also prevented him from ever receiving an FFL, which means he can't legally sell firearms ever again.

He lucked out hard. First offense, his dad posted a ridiculous bond, and the judge allowed him to enter a diversion program that kept him out of prison. There was a flurry of sock-puppet action on his part, but the other mods and the owner of the site stuck to my side. I actually felt bad for his father, who'd been in the business for decades and was planning on giving the shop to his kid. But Junior screwed that up. Ended up with one felony (unlicensed handgun), and a couple of misdemeanors, and effectively ended any hope he'd go into the firearms business forever.

By then, I'd had enough of dealing with the BS that went on after this had started. Before I stung him, Junior had run a bunch of sock puppets which drove me and the other mods fits. When we finally had them all locked down, he recruited a couple other posters to relay shit about me, and they got banned. In order to keep the peace and my sanity, I quit being a mod, but by then the damage had been done. The site owner had only done the MB because it came with his webpage package, and when it started causing him headaches, he pulled the plug on it a couple months later.

Sorry for the long post.
