Also for those who say it's shallow ..making a judgement based on someone's profile picture might also be considered shallow ..just saying. Most of the time it's rare that one even gets a chance to speak to women on here, bombarded with mail as they are :)

I have a couple of shirtless pics. With the sheer amount of men on these sites I think it helps to try and distinguish yourself in anyway you can and if you happen to have assets that might interest a woman then why not put them on show.

I mean isn't that what women do everyday? \Why should it be any different for men?

It doesn't really matter if that's what you think women do every day or not. In an economy where it's a buyer's market and you're a seller, it's your choice whether you want to keep selling what you want to sell, or what buyers want to buy.

Yes, women may want to look at your pic as eye candy, but look at all the other headless built guys on here. How do you think you differentiate yourself from them? Through the words in your profile.

I wasn't attempting to criticise women particularly I was merely making a comparison - I think people do it, that's more what I meant.

But perhaps as you say it all comes down to the words on the profile ...I see much eye candy on here but am regularly turned off once I read the profile.

In fact women regularly seem to visit my profile - form the history - but never leave a message which perhaps speaks volumes lol

Ilyrium -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (10/2/2013 8:51:31 PM)

This is a great thread, for me, a noob, because I'm struggling with what profile picture portrays ME (the real me, not the model-I-wish-to-be-were-I-someone-else me).

Given all that has been said here, maybe I'll just post the shirt as my profile photo (I have some really nice silk shirts!).

taraindiana -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (10/7/2013 3:46:59 PM)

I suppose it's a matter of taste, but when I see those torso selfies and variations there of, I automatically rule that person out. To Me is says the person, to some degree is focused on the superficial. For me that's a turn off.

Idk, I kinda like it. I think it's like an indication of what you're getting.

I mean what if said guy has a pic with shirt on, and lets say he has this horrendous scar across his chest (now myself, I happen to like scars) but for the sake of arguing lets say the lady checking out his profile is petrified of scars. Now, they go on to talk and chat and get to know each other. He may not think it a big deal to tell her. Then the day comes to where she sees it. Now what?

They have great feelings for each other but she can't get over it.

I know this is far fetched and prolly sounds rediculous, but WHAT IF?!

Honestly? As a male sub, I wouldn't want to date someone so shallow that she couldn't get over a minor physical flaw(sorry, I felt compelled to respond).

MaitressFire -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (11/14/2013 4:02:07 AM)

I prefer to see a person's face rather than a bare tummy--unless it's something really artsy. I want something that expresses a bit of what a person is. Not his tummy or his penis. Then again, I also read profiles.

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (11/16/2013 9:20:11 PM)

I too like scars, since they tell the story of something the owner has lived through.

I also like to gawk at a muscular torso, but it does nothing to affect My choice in subs. It's just eye candy and I move on. The pics that actually draw Me in are VANILLA pics of the person FULLY CLOTHED in their own natural environment, either doing something or relaxing in a "let's have a conversation" type way. I've actually contacted many subs simply because their pics were personal in this way, not "in your face" as someone else pointed out.

Aside from the above daydream,lol...I think some guys have nice looking bodies. My hubby, peon, and y'all may think I'm crazy but Hilly too. I like round bellies! (I think it was in the ducklip thread that he showed us)Anywho...I say yea to shirtless photos.

xLionHeartx -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (12/19/2013 1:07:14 AM)

I feel that people look too much into it. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. A shirtless pic in my opinion can explain alot, It can show how I groom, how clean I stay, It can show how well I take care of my body, its just like any other picture. People will say they find a shirtless picture unattractive...yet how is it any different than going to a pool ? This is online and why not just skip the playing cat and mouse chase and just throw your cards on the table. The community is already small enough, for me I try to keep it tasteful. My profile only has 1 and its definitely not the main one.

I usually find that most dominant women prefer them. Dominant women are not afraid to indulge and admire the other sex, whereas vanilla women find it taboo to lust over men in that fashion.

Wendel27 -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (12/19/2013 6:19:52 AM)

I've got a fair few shirtless pictures. But then I'm a big fan of both the ''superficial'' and more in depth traits. I must confess to being perpetually bewildered as to why being attracted to skin deep beauty as a compliment to personality is seen in any way as a bad thing. I can appreciate people not liking torso photographs, desire is individual...but some of the judgements along with that seem just a shade too rich for my taste. When I see styles or even individual photographs that I find unappealing it simply leads me to think that the photo doesn't attract me. I don't extrapolate anything further out of it. I think it's a curious juxtaposition too decry the superficial but base character judgements on photographs. The usual caveats to common sense apply to the last sentence I may make some inferences if one posts a picture of them battering a puppy to death with a seal cub or somesuch.

StrongAthenaKali -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (12/19/2013 9:10:47 AM)

I couldn't agree with LadyPact more. If you're going to show a photo with skin, at least make it one that you have to click through to get to. The first profile photo is much more appealing when it shows a bit of *you*.

I think if you ever wanted to pick a photo to make you look like thousands upon thousands of other nondescript submissive males, the perfect thing to show the lack of creativity and imagination is to do the standard shirtless torso with the head cut off.

Dreamless -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (12/19/2013 2:21:02 PM)

In all due seriousness... I have a fetish for big tough guys submitting. So while on one hand I love to see what someone's got going on...

I also feel really, really fucking guilty when a guy who I think is hot messages me. Because I don't consider myself to be attractive. It's sheer social math. It's hard to turn it off after you've been told that a billion times. And I know it's dumb, and I don't actually have a lot of body issues--I like me just fine and ironically, I'm far more self confident as a fat adult than I was as a teenager and a healthy high-end-of-normal weight--but my first instinct when someone puts their sexuality and attractiveness first is, shit, they're going to be so turned off when they see me, I can't invest any of myself in this superficial person because obviously the first thing they think about themselves is, hey look, I'm HOT.

And I'm not.

And I know in kink, for many people, it's the presence of that kink that matters.

But I have a hard time turning off that inner voice that goes "you can't date someone that looks like that, the only reason annnyone wants you is you're wiling to do kinky top things. You don't dessssssserve that, not when there's 57 really fucking hot dommes in your area this guy could get." I complimented a guy on his eye candy photo once. Deleted unread.

If I find out they're hot with pecs AFTER I've found out we both love whatever, pick your shared interest, then it's just like icing on a cake. But if that's the first thing I see? It's still like icing. Only this time, it's just icing. With nothing else.

Put your actual assets first. How about a picture of your hands... strong... manly... hands... beside your massage class certificate. SOLD. [;)]

Oh!

It was very candid, and brave, of you to say all that, but saddening, as well.

I'm reminded of some research whose conclusion I've seen reflected frequently: that women tend to think they're less attractive than they are. The first time I saw them was in relation to an interview with Bo Derek, star of the film '10' and considered - well, a screen goddess. Anyway, she revealed that she'd always considered herself ugly.

JetOnly -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (12/20/2013 6:56:26 AM)

I dont see a big problem with it - I get not wanting to show your face but still wanting to make your profile 'you' and set a tone, much better than the cock fotos that so many guys think are obligatory

LookieNoNookie -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (12/20/2013 6:02:20 PM)

I encourage them.

So long as they aren't men and they don't look like what I see in the morning, when I open my eyes.

FrostedFlake -> RE: What do you think of shirtless photos? (12/21/2013 12:18:53 AM)

Didn't Poise post a thread about this?

Or was it about belts?

Have you seen this advert? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpaOjMXyJGk its very touching, strangers meet a women then the stranger and the woman describe the woman to a sketch artist and the two photographs are show together - and guess what?? The things the women hate about themselves the stranger dosent even see, the strangers descritions are far prettier and closer to the truth

Peon, I do know what you mean, I feel like that myself sometimes too, but everyone finds different things attractive so it is not up to you to judge yourself not hot enough for someone, you look lovely to me

There is a fine line between an erotic, tasteful photo and a tacky one. What is your opinion of shirtless photos? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

Shirtless photos of males on a site like this are not the least bit objectionable to me. Most of the profile pics I've been seeing which I do find objectionable are as follows:

- Bloody Red Striped Bare-Naked Butts
- Puny (or any) D!cks in Chastity Cages
- Puny and/or Misshapen D!cks of any kind
- Naked Men in what they think are submissive poses ... kneeling and/or cupping genitals in hands
(Some appear to need only one hand to cover, not both.)
- Stand-alone [CB] Chastity Device pics
- Tiny boylike-looking men being smothered by a huge naked BBW (WTF?)
- Caricatures of getting strapped--and I don't mean a leather strap.
- The list goes on and on....

In comparison, a nude torso is tame. However, a pleasant-looking smiling face holds the most appeal.
