historical florentine football

I just came across this and wanted to kmow if some here heard about this game before, I posted an english language video so you can also understand what goes on. It's probably the only sportive event where a swat team is there to back up the refree if necessary or where a team rooster was all composed by rookies because that year ex convicts where forbidden to take part in the game.

Weird... Looks interesting, it should certainly toughen you up... But theres too much focus on the fighting by the looks... It seems like they just throw a ball out there so they can call it a sport.

well there's a reson why in the centuries this evolved in rugby and football and it's probably because the "with any mean" in the rules would distract from the bal action.

It looks like it would have been a hell of a lot of fun when I was younger.

The BBC had an article. I saved the picture, because I thought it was hot! [8D]

What's with the pants and boots? I keep expecting swords to be buckled on their hips. Lol.

it involves enought blood and injures without the use of blades. The pants are from 1530's spring/summer collection.
