Edwynn, this belief in your intellectual and moral superiority to the 'proletariat' is what drives all your opinions. You are better than the rest of us and we desperately need your despotic control over our lives. This is why we can never be trusted with firearms because we may disagree with your superior position on things and the fact that we are armed will make it much hard for us to be placed in reeducation camps.

No, I am saying that society should be able to to protect themselves, by sane regulation, from idiot parents that allow their three year old child to investigate how her daddy's loaded gun works in a crowded public camping ground.

How much 'freedom' did any other of the numerous children or their parents have in any of that?

You have an amazing ability to hear nothing and say little with a lot of words.

Protect, in the context I used it, obviously meant protect from a criminal attempting to harm. You use one example of irresponsible parents allowing a tragic death of their child to indicate that all parents should never be ale to defend themselves against harm.

Let me guess, you are thinking furiously about how you can ignore the majority of what I just said and twist several words to make the same point. I'm simple asking you to admit the truth, that you believe the general public is too stupid to own firearms.

The greater the idiocy, the greater the outcry of "despotic control."

It's not about my 'greater intellectual capacity,' in any event. It's not about philosophy of 'freedom.'

It's about keeping you or your kids who you were stupid enough to let get ahold of your gun from from shooting me or my kids.

Simple as that.

So you admit you believe you have a greater intellectual capacity than most people?

You also admit that you believe any parent who owns a firearm will necessarily allow it to be unsafely handled by their child?

No, just more than idiots.

I've never claimed that there was much more to it than that.

Do you believe that any parent who owns a firearm is either stupid or grossly irresponsible?

You have no clue what I believe.

You make it to your own cause, as you apparently do for yourself in life.

And the fact that the vast majority of gun owners are responsible and don't let their kids play with real guns. And what would the other kids be doing going through their stuff?
You want to restrict 1,000,000 people because one is an idiot.
We come back to your apparent believe that freedom truly flow from regulation.

Considering that this *is* Alaska, My offer still stands. Any time you'd like to go out there to the woods for a week, without a firearm, I'll be more than happy to help you facilitate it.

Considering that the incident didn't take place in Alaska, please expound further as to why you have any point to make in that, or what bears in Alaska have anything to do with a three yr. old child inadvertently shooting herself 2,000 miles S of Alaska while going the natural rounds for her age in investigating what her fathers toy was about, potentially killing other people in the campground in the process.

This wasn't a 'rough and tumble' place, it was a very popular and crowded campground in a public park, with the usual amenities.

You should be grateful for Edwynn, he wants to take your gun away before you hurt yourself with it you silly child.

He is welcome to come and get it any time he wants.

I don't want your freaking gun, or your AK-47, or you arsenal of RPGs, or whatever else, AS LONG AS KEPT IN YOUR OWN HOUSE. No sane person wants anything to do with your perversion, I assure you.

The point you you are completely missing is that none of society want's any of this crap in public[/b], so, just keep them in your house!

Have all you want, but just keep it to yourself and keep it in your own place.

What is so difficult about that?

OK, I'll do that. Just as soon as you tell Me how that death, or your absence of a firearm because of it, is going to protect you while you are in the woods in the middle of nowhere.

See, I really *do* live in a place where deaths by wildlife outpace death by firearms. Not the state overall, but definitely in the parish where I live. Anit-gun folks never seem to want to talk about that. They also never seem to want to talk about little facts like there really are places that people live where roughly a third of the people in the entire state, according to the Alaska state game and wildlife service, have purchased a hunting license within the last three years in order to hunt game and feed their families.

So, what I asked you to do is to put yourself in the position where you might see things differently. While I definitely have sympathy for the loss of that child, such sympathy isn't going to protect Me. It wouldn't protect you, either.

However, if you are willing to put your own self on the line and show us how it's done, I'll be more than happy to help you in your quest.

The only times I have needed them is when I wasn't in the house.

No responsible parent would put their own or any other three year old's life on the line.

Just what are you getting at, here?

The park where the incident occurred had no outcry from parents to lawmakers to protect themselves from bears by way of expansionist gun legislation to allow guns in a this campground, or any other campground for kids.

Bear killings were absolutely not an issue in this public park. That is certainly an issue in other areas, but not here. The park rangers and the decades long influx made that a non-issue.

Under some conditions, including hunting or walking in the wilds in Alaska, guns have always been allowed.

This was just another banal public park, not a hunting expedition in the wilds.

You are trying to equate wolf sledding and Elk hunting with a simple kid's day at the park at a decades-long well traveled and open public park for families and kids, just like in Cali or VA or GA.

I don't want to be compelled to have a gun on my person to take the nieces and nephews snow skiing, that's all there is to it. And there is nothing in generations-long expeditions in this venture to say otherwise.

I only show them where bears are where I know we can keep a safe distance.

Who's the adult here?
