It's about religion and they changed polls and random stupidity to polls and random snippets.
If it was still random stupidity, I'd have put it there.

Note, all the people mentioned in this article are 18 and over.

Without further ado, I present. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2415387/Teenage-exorcists-say-Harry-Potter-corrupted-world-head-Britain-armed-Bibles-Holy-Water-tackle-hotbed-occult-activity.html

What do you people in the desert southwest have to say for yourselves? Is it the heat?

PeonForHer -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 5:29:14 AM)

Oooh, wouldn't it be great to turn up at one of their meetings wearing a pointy hat and read out, say, a recipe for cheese omelette translated into Latin?

chatterbox24 -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 5:58:27 AM)

Ridiculous! Such pretty young girls who have been taught warped views.

Harry Potter books are incredibly inventive. They take kids are a magic trip, make reading fun, and if one views in a POSITIVE way instead of turning it into the devil its good, great even.
Now that's a scarey church to me.
That is incredibly embarrassing to me. There are some Christians who would fight me tooth and nail too, a few I even know who think that way. My response to them would be "GOOD LUCK ON THAT FIGHT SISTA"

That is not what Christianity is about, IT IS NOT.

FR

I actually created a Harry Potter retreat at my Episcopal parish back in 2001. It drew more folks than any other topic before or since.

thishereboi -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 6:28:55 AM)

Damn if I had known the spells were real I would have paid a lot more attention to them. Now I am going to have to go and see if I can levitate something.

Wingardium leviosa. [:)]

chatterbox24 -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 6:32:27 AM)

How about levitating a warship or two off the coast of Syria?

God help us.

Actually, if you'd levitate Syria, I'm going to take a wild guess and figure everyone stop fighting for a moment and, perhaps, take a listen at peace edicts.

hahahahahahahha

It'd certainly catch their attention... everyone's attention... then the US would try to figure out where the person doing it was so they could kill him or her.

If one could levitate Syria, one could, at least theoretically, levitate enough objects to protect oneself.

Sadly, this is not something I know from first hand experience. [:(]

Typical rightie move... making wild shit up to support his claims! Links please.

(for the humor impaired, this is a joke)

leonine -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 7:40:05 AM)

"In fact, they see Britain as a hotbed of occult activity whose origins go back to pagan times."

I know a lot of witches who'd say that's the nicest thing anyone's said about this country.

I would love to bring them to the next Pagan convention in Leeds and stage a chant-off with a picked three High Priestesses. The webcam rights alone would be worth a fortune.

The voices in my head told me to tell you they don't want to be an internet sensation, so I can't record them and link to them.

If you figured out how to levitate, you wouldn't need shoes, so you wouldn't need to learn how to tie them.

Just trying to help...

LadyPact -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 8:27:30 AM)

I don't think it was a desk that hurt My head. I see why this would have made a great topic when it was still called random stupidity.

Ever wonder if the makers of Bayer and Tylenol encourage news stories to be printed about stupidity? I'll bet this kind of stuff increases their profit margins.

Politesub53 -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 9:41:38 AM)

The Daily Mail Article lost me at the start, when it said "Stunning American teens" .... Attractive, yes, stunning, not so much.

It annoys me that the BBC (UK Taxpayer) is paying for this crap to be shown. The trip to the UK is just to stir up some publicity.

Maybe the "stunning" part is the ignorance/blindness?

ETA: I think that would be quite descriptive of the gals.

Politesub53 -> RE: *Head, meet desk* (9/9/2013 9:45:04 AM)

I just get pissed off with the press and adjectives in general. They abuse words so much they lose any real meaning.
