After almost 2 years of visiting me here on the CA Central Coast, Huck's been after me to come to San Francisco. He knows I'm 'cityphobic' and rarely leave my little fishing village. This time he's tempting me with a train ticket up, the Folsom Street Fair on 9/29, all the dungeness crab I can eat, and a ride home. I REALLY like boy-on-boy so is Folsom St. the place to go?

Have you gone to the fair, and what was it like?

I'm glad I went, but once was enough for me.

At one point, it became so crowded that Master tied our hands together because the crowd kept pushing us apart.

Sort of like walking through the commercial section of a regular fair, except instead of vacuums and massage chairs they were selling toys. Pricey street food, People in costumes and people naked. At one point there was a demo onstage but it was really pretty hard to see. It was cold and drizzling sometimes so there weren't hoards of people like I'd been told. I had my head shaved and people kept taking my picture. I thought it was pretty boring.

I might skip the fair, and go straight for the crab.

Go for it.
I rather like San Francisco but I detest trying to drive a vehicle there. I'd rather park my vehicle in a secure location and take the BART to where I wan to go.

And what you see in the Castro after midnight should never be mentioned to the maiden aunts.

We've gone. I thought it was a wonderful experience. The year that we went, there were several folks from CM (at the time) who were going also. It's very easy to miss folks entirely, so if you are interested in that sort of thing, you might want to arrange a specific time and place. It is hard as heck to find people in the crowd. As Oside said, it can be hard to keep together even with the people you are walking with.

It's in the Castro, so you are definitely going to see boy/boy. You are going to see some fantastically dedicated males who go to the full nines in showgirl attire. (I couldn't have worn those shoes for five minutes, much less walked on the pavement in them all day.) There will be some kink related vendors. (That's on top of shops that are in the Fair's path, such as Mr S.) You'll also find some educational booths, as well as informational stuff on how the community has outreach programs. (Particularly fund raising for those suffering from AIDS, funding for education for kink related causes, NCSF, etc.) Expect everything from various stages of nudity, to cos play. If it's out there under the kink umbrella, you'll see it or people who engage in it.

Unfortunately, we were only able to go once. (The second September that we lived in CA, My other half had undergone shoulder surgery and that was *NOT* the place to take him where people could bump into him.) I'd go again in a heartbeat if we were still semi-local.

Folsom is not in the Castro, it's in SOMA.

I've been twice but the first time was very briefly (I went with Bita and she walked me around on a leash, heh)

The Mister and I went last year and it was sooooooooooooooo stinking crowded I could hardly stand it. If one more naked and sweaty body rubbed against me I thought I would scream.

But...we did get a nice posture collar there, and an ankle bracelet, and he bought a cane there that he broke on me just a few weeks ago, so he might want to go back lol.

It's an experience, for sure. But the crowd last year made it hard to even really see anything. But I'm glad we went.

I don't know but I've seen men fucking other men with a dildo on the street if that means anything. I also have a really sweet picture of two guys in chaps (and nothing else -- buttless chaps) holding hands.

My best comparison... kinky cirque du soleil with some skewing towards gay male. Maybe this helps describe it. Being vanilla at the time when we first met I had some concerns about "not fitting in". Pretty much the moment I got there I realized that what I was seeing was so diverse, so wild, so indescribable that nobody and everyone fit in there. I also have fond memories of making Carol get some beads by flashing her breasts and tying her to a convenient light pole while I went to get a couple of beers.

It's crowded, no doubt. But at least when I went it was quite the sight.

I'm glad to hear that. I know you're not the "community" type but I'm hoping you'll have a good time.

Thanks! I don't do particularly well with the huge crowd thing but when I'm with Huck, almost anything's fun. He was a bit resistant to the idea of cuffs, collar and leash in a public venue due to his high profile business in SF, but maybe a hood might take care of that concern? Come to think of it, a leash will be very important because as Oside suggested, without it we might get separated.

Anybody else besides ivone (deby) planning to go?

For those who said 'pics or it didn't happen': here are pics :-)

Ivone57, I stopped by the TGIF booth and left a message but you were out and about. Sorry to have missed you.

Definitely worth a pass through, great photos ops, and probably something I won't need to do again. Huck was tolerant as always, and we both decided we'd had enough about the same time. All in all, a wonderful sight to see and a good trip to SF overall.
