If you are a true sub, then what kind of sub are you?

ETA: I belatedly added the gender distinctions.

There's a difference between human being and living being.
Beyond that, to defend our selves and loved ones, most of us would hope to be able to do what was necessary.

With that said, our defaults can vary. Some fight, some flee, some freeze. Going by that, only about one third would be able to fight and kill.

Carol is generally non-violent. I'm certain that given the right pressure/circumstance she'd be willing to hurt another living being. Then again, I'd say that of any human being.

I'm also pretty certain she doesn't shed many tears if she steps on an ant or plucks a dandelion.

There is that. Okay, so living being = mammal or bird.

Neither extreme fits me. I couldn't attack another human. But I could attack and even kill an animal if necessary. When it comes down to an animal's life or a person's life, the person comes first.

Sooooo... you walk into your living room from doing some laundry intending to put the iron away. While you're there you see <<badthing>> happening to your <<unmentionable>>. Nobody notices you. So then you'd just walk away rather than hit the person with the iron in your hand?

If that's not far enough I can make more compelling scenarios for you.

I clicked 'prepared to kill' but it would pretty much have to be a scenario like Jeff described. I catch bugs and carry them outside to safety.

I'd probably be traumatized and need counseling for the rest of my life, but I'm confident from my reactions in lesser situations that I would act to protect myself or someone else. The real question is whether I'd have the physical strength to kill someone - I think probably not in most cases.

It wasn't until after having kids that I could say, with confidence, that I am fully prepared to kill in order to protect my family and myself.
And I'd do it without flinching, by any means necessary, depending on the circumstance.

So non Jain subs aren't proper subs because they're only submissive to their dominant rather than every other living creature on earth?
Seriously, if that's what the OP is trying to drive at, what utter, ridiculous nonsense.

Yes I could hurt another living being and have in the past and would again if threatened. And I wouldn't be bothered by it at all. I however, would not hurt someone I care for, unless they did something so terrible that I had to and while I may feel bad about having done it, I wouldn't feel guilt about it. It would just be something I had to do.

Me being a slave has nothing at all to do with me protecting myself.

I'd be too afraid that I'd accidentally kill them to attack them, and besides, I'm not sure that's even legal, since if nobody saw me, I could sneak away, and couldn't reasonably claim self-defense. My inclination would be to escape quickly and call the police.

I guess there are extreme situations in which I could kill, but they're not situations that would happen outside a novel or movie. Someone is about to trigger a doomsday device that will destroy New York City and kill everyone there, and he's the only one who can activate it, and I found a loaded gun on the floor and have a clear shot at his head. I could take the shot, and probably even somehow forgive myself. But that's not a real-world scenario.

The poll is directed at submissives, not at slaves.

There are as yet too few responses to get an impression of the variations in the psychology of submissives. It does not help that the extant responses may be polluted by the responses of a few slaves.
