Sent Mom the following:

Sorry Mom....went to www.ancestry.com....tried the maiden name thing....let's just say....the expected lifespan thing....it's not looking good.

Do you have tags on everything....you know....just in case? I kinda need those two end white chairs with arms to make a full set....

(Now if you were a Gates.....well...it'd still be a short ride but....you'd have positive cash flow.....).

When it comes to mom, are you a chip off the old block?

I feel it's always important that everyone understands they're dispensable.

Changed my diapers, taught me to walk, held me when I was scared....yeah....whatcha done for me lately?

Then I like to explain that those little tiny hoses that dispense oxygen, can be crimped while one sleeps....keeping parents on edge....it's important...keeps their heart rates up.

Excellent approach, particularly as she's in her 80s, if I recall. Don't want to coddle the old coots.

Already got it. The men go in their late 60's on a massive heart attack, or early 70's with some rotten deep cancer. The women go well into their 80's or 90's (unless they drink themselves to death), but are batshit insane for the last 20.

Think I'll have a bacon cheeseburger for dinner.

FR

One time, my mother and I were discussing family medical history, particularly who died of what. She mentioned someone who'd died especially young but noted, "He died of pneumonia, so it doesn't count."

I knew what she meant but couldn't resist responding, "Well, I'm sure it counted to him!"
