Was wondering what music you all was snoop'n through on recent occasions?

Been listen'n to alota the same old same old stuff, You know,Norwegian reggae ,socialist rap, sasquatch metal, I.E., same kinda stuff that normally grabs my fancy....But low and behold I found some old and neneww honky tonk that struck a few cords on my ear buds.

So I was wonder'n if any one else was find'n new ear candy and want'd to share the flavor[:D]

About once a year I have a whole host of new music to listen to that I pick up from a festival I volunteer at. I spend most of my time in the beer tent, stage managing that stage, and I'll make note of who struck a chord with me while on my stage. I usually spend over $200.00 on cd's during the weekend. I'd share some links, but a lot of them don't have videos on youtube or the like. Most of the music is folk (with strains of rock, country, blues, etc.).

I'll also occasionally go to friends shows, or to venues that have live music, and discover new artists I like, which I then buy cd's from. I've given those as christmas presents a couple of times over the years.

What genre are you looking to explore further?

In my mind, this is the same genre as this lol
I'm interested in anything that sinks into your brain when you here it(or vise versa)
any thing that exhibits a "je ne sais quoi"

sounds that make you feel ALIVE!!Muahahaha

PyrotheClown -> RE: Ok,my last music thread (9/16/2013 7:16:21 PM)

I'm interested in the GOOD stuff that I haven't heard yet,for the past few months....eh...years, I've dwelled deeply into underground hip hop(everything from stuff bout keeping the neighbors secrets from the popo to the importance of organ donation, found my anthem this past summer)but I getinto fits of listening to other random stuff all the time(artsyfemale vocalists, sensual lounge indie rock,Swedish satanists, good horn rich jazz,ect..)Grew up listening to alot of punk, post punk, and metal...and other weird shit

I'll offer up my most recent Shazam moment (where I ask myself "Why have I never heard this before?" and break out the phone app).
Kind of bluesy. I love her voice.
"365 Days"

And this one:
"Criminal"

Gotta plug the relatives.. new album released in midsummer: http://www.tommymalone.net/home.cfm

Other that buying cds put out by Tommy, my latest musical purchases were more of discovering some nostalgic sounds of yesteryear... Tartan Amoebas and the Peatbog Faeries

Apocalypso -> RE: Ok,my last music thread (9/17/2013 10:10:32 AM)

I can go on for ever on these kinds of threads, so I'll stick to three.

Lydia Loveless . Alt-country, with a voice that could strip the paint off walls.

handmadehands Indiesh. This is them at their more upbeat. Their albums are all available on a pay what you want basis.

Arse Full of Chips They sound much like the name suggests. This is a tender ballad about the lead singer taking his girlfriend to see the Mad Caddies, and then losing her to the trumpet player. Apparently it's based on a true story. (Not for the easily offended).

hylasEA -> RE: Ok,my last music thread (9/17/2013 10:27:15 AM)

there is so much exciting new music right now. i love the new albums of janelle monae, goldfrapp, marnie, and aluna george, amongst others. just downloaded the new album of VV brown, not sure if i like it yet.

If you like “unusual” stuff, are you familiar with The Goose Creek Symphony? Mostly “hillbilly” (kinda like Bluegrass, but not exactly) with a tiny bit of Rock flavoring…sometimes.

If the the songs did not originate in the late 60's, 70's or 80's then I dont listen to it.
