Hey there! After bouncing around on this site off and on for several years I decided to actually try the forums!

Anywho, I was wondering if there is any Homebrewers hanging around here? I have been involved on a hobby level for about a year and a half, or about 20 gallons(give or take).

Currently fermenting an oaked vanilla porter, and drinking the last of a 6 malt amber ale.

I also enjoy quite a few commercial beers, so feel free to wax poetic about your own favorite!

Yup, there are, in fact if you have recipes or want some go to the recipes and post in alcoholic drinks.

Master home brews and we also make wine. Although, he doesn't come into the forums.

I've done a little homebrewing. I tend to make one 5 gallon batch and then drink it till it's gone before making another so it is a while between batches. I've been thinking about trying out making my own mash but that adds quite a bit of time to an already lengthy project.

Used to make some bomb home ciders(cause apples is cheap)but don't have time for fun things like that no more really.

I must admit I enjoy the darker ales, Porters & Milds. I had a beautiful couple of pints of Penguin Emperor Porter (5%) in the Nags Head in Reading last week, & A lovely couple of Chocolate Orange Surprise (6.8%) by the Hogs Back Brewery in the Hopleaf straight after. A great night!

I actually prefer a hard cider or mead.

Lately I ran across an odd but interesting microbrew... Magnolia Brewery Pecan Lager.

I'm a fan of amber ales and I like trying the not-so-popular brews. Recently went to Boulder and enjoyed the Left Handed Brewery - very good stuff.

One amazing surprise was when I was at a pub in a small town in Virginia...I ordered "Magic Hat #9" simply for the name. It was an apricot infused beer that was remarkable. Went well with my very spicy She Crab Soup.

Left Handed Brewery Milk Stout is actually on my list for brewing, did you try that?

I must admit that I go for the names too, Had a couple of pints of Green Bullet yesterday, as I'm a harmonica player & that's the mic I blow through, had to give it a try, wasn't bad.

'Spicy She Crab Soup'? Sounds tasty. You're lucky if they give you a packet of pork scratchings or a bag of crisps over here in Blighty

!

Milk Stout is lovely, especially with a hint of vanilla in it.

Pretty much every brewery will do a range from dark to light. IPAs are very popular here and Alesmith's Nut Brown is considered one of the best.

I am of the opinion that IPA's are overdone. So many breweries are churning out over-hopped pale ales! Hops should be a flavor that enhances the beer, not beats the other flavors into submission and dances on their graves while singing about hops...

if memory serves, stone brewery is located out there
they're one of the larger "micro"breweries
and one of their flagship beer is called ruination,because it's so dark and hopy that it will ruin your taste buds.

For some strange reason, french beers are my favorite.Belzebuth being the favored flavored of them all.It's sweet without being too sweet.
recently in these last few hot months, been on a stint of buying lemonberry shandy,stuffs tasty as hell,and it's refreshing to boot

Oh I love going for the names. If ever I'm not sure which of 2-3 beers to order, I go for the coolest named one.

Had one the other day...Red Headed something or other. Was fantastic.

She Crab Soup was amazing.
