I don't know what's in the air these days, but lately I've been deluged with mail from mostly sub men I've had NO prior contact with state they'll be 'coming through your area' inviting me to coffee, lunch or dinner. The profiles are usually blank, and/or outside my interest parameters, and at any rate I state in BIG BOLD RED LETTERS at the top of my profile that I'M NOT LOOKING. I thank them for their offers and remind them I'm not available to meet.

Here's my question: has anyone here just picked any old profile in the area they'll be traveling through and made an overture, and did it amount to anything worthwhile?

Every time I see this topic the picture of a sub/slave driving by a home and using a sling shot or some other device to launch dildos and sex toys at the home.

I used to get a lot of that on AOL. What I always found funny was that people rarely came out and said what they really meant:

Them: I'm going to be in LA next week.
Me: I'm sure you'll have a great trip.
Them: I'm looking for someone to show me around
Me: Gray Line has some great tours
Them: I was hoping to find a submissive to show me around
Me: What does being submissive have to do with being a tour guide?
Them: I was hoping to find someone to play with while I was there.
Me: Oh. Well good luck in your search.
Them: (Option A or B) A: Fuck you, you're not a real submissive anyway! or B) Fuck you, you're fat/ugly/stupid and I didn't want you anyway!

Any old profile? No. Folks from the forums? Heck yes! Plenty of positive results doing that.

My first thought is that you might be seeing an increase because Folsom is coming up. Even where you are, for people traveling, you might be considered not far.

Since we moved up here, I *still* get this kind of noise in emails occasionally. Even in middle of nowhere Alaska. There have been a few that were actually passing through this little town. Majority, though, haven't bothered to look at a map and notice this is a really big state. A couple of days in Anchorage isn't exactly close by.

Yeah, a lot of people don't realize how big California is either. I had someone that wanted to swing by from San Jose, while they were visiting CA.

I travel a lot on business. Yep, I'll check out profiles in the area where I'll be for a while and if there is one with some common interests or something that strikes me as interesting I'll drop a line.

Over the years I've met some interesting people, had company for dinner or lunch where I didn't have to carefully edit out certain subjects. On the rare occasion I've run across a play partner but mostly it is looking for like minded social interaction when I'm away from home for a month or so.

Thanks everyone! Back when I was looking, I did have a few lunches with folks from the other side who were 'passing through'. But now that I'm not, I don't want to deal with an underlying tone of 'here's your lunch; now dominate me' whether intentional or not. It's just easier to give 'em a local restaurant recommendation, wish them a good journey, then block them.

^^^I should add that would not apply to most folks from the forums, male or female. I've met a few folks posting here, including Allie, and have encouraged many posters to holler if they're in my 'hood.

Prior to 2009, the great Recession, I worked for an auto supplier.

During breaks, the engineers would lear at CM ... guys over each others shoulders like a football huddle! ROFL

They used CM cause its free .... not Alt ... costs money ...

Any way ... bet that happens in a lot of different places ... AND

Likely, that is the cause of your driveby's

Those guys were all married, and occasionally traveled.

No doubt, they are looking for a little different, travel'in sex ... if someone responded ...

Yes, actually I did. It was about 13 years ago and I had basically no clue. I had chatted online a bit and been to a munch but that was about it. I was going to Memphis for a Star Trek convention so I viewed some profiles on AOL and found a few interesting ones in that area. I tried talking to one and she thought I was someone else that she knew. After chatting for a bit she realized I was not who she thought I was but took a liking to me. She arranged to meet me in the hotel I was staying at and said if I seemed ok she would invite me to the local club. We met for lunch and she gave me directions to get to the club. I had an awesome time and came back a few more time later on to see her. At the time I did not think much of it but realize now it probably wasn't the smartest thing I had ever done but it all worked out well. She even taught my Mistress at the time to do needles at the Wicked Women of Impact party, but that was about a year after meeting.

Yes, though she was actually two towns further than my ultimate destination. So I really didn't "pass through." Also, it wasn't just any old profile. She was someone I would have fully pursued locally... a very experienced and interesting Domme, actually.

It resulted in me buying her dinner, and later enjoying a play session with her. We kept in touch via email for a couple years afterwards, but I never returned to her area and we eventually went cold.

Too bad I haven't traveled more often when unattached.

I just checked (hence the edit) and more than 5 years have already passed. Where does the time go?

Yes, this is how me and my best friend meet but it was me doing the drive by and saying, "hey I am moving to your area perhaps we can meet for lunch of something." Granted not on CM but still.

We have been amazing friends for years now.
So meeting someone doesn't mean their are motives other than perhaps starting a friendship or enjoying good company with a meal.

On CM and FL I get this a lot.
Especially who are traveling to the area and wanting to do a "drive by session" with me as a pro or a fanbased video.
Sometimes I agree, other times I don't.
For ME it depends on the vibe I get, my schedule, their profile, posts, ect.

Again... I make sure there is no question about what our meeting is about and what's expected. (on both sides)

@ seekingownertoo - I have been on free sites (like CM and FL) as well as paying sites such as alt and it's a lot of the same thing. In fact on alt I was approached by more "doms" than both CM and FL combined and my profile clearly stated I am in a poly relationship and only looking for subs/slaves.

Paying does not stop the nonsense.
