I reconnected with someone from my past today, someone that I had thought a lot of when I was in High School with them.

It was great to hear their voice again, to be able to laugh with them again. Then they started telling me about their life since HS. I expressed regret for their tragedy's, I complimented them on their successes, and how they had managed through a lot of adversity to come to a place in their life that they were happy.

I looked at my own life, and thought "There but by the grace of God Go I" I had no reason to dislike them, to hurt them or to cut them to the quick.

However after I got off the phone, the inner teenager inside of me started laughing and having a really good belly laugh at that. Because I remember as a teenager telling them basically the equivalent of "Drop the Zero and Get with the Hero".

I told them in a fit of rage that she was going to wind up with 4 kids living in a trailer out in the sticks and doing nothing with her life.

Today, she is living with 4 kids, in a trailer out in the sticks, doing a dead end job for next to nothing.

I know that that could have been me, and as an adult I wish her only the best. But there is still that little voice that wants to say "See I told you so"

It says, conceivably:

1. You have some psychic abilities, specifically prognostication.

2. Your Inner Teenager is somewhat of a prick, albeit a friendly one.

I have made contact with many of my old crew from school, but this is not about me.

You were given an opportunity, in the words of my grandmother, to see how much you have grown as a person.

As for what it says about you, I say it says you are a typical human being, with a bit more compassion than most since you did not take the opportunity to say "I told you so."

You can stay connected and be friend, or you can close the door and walk away. The choice is yours.

I dont see anything to beat yourself up for, unless you were directly involved with how her life went.

Where you are (and where you can hold yourself)....is.

And by the way....where they went....is of even lesser concern.
